Advantages: No Nasty Sweeteners
Disadvantages: bit more pricey than other squashes
High Juice - made by Robinsons, is available in ten different flavours. These include; Pink Grapefruit, Cherry & Raspberry, Apple Strawberry & Lychee, Blood Orange, Grape & Melon, Apple, Orange, Peach, and Pink Grapefruit - All of which are readily available at most supermarkets.
Robinsons pride themselves on using 55% real fruit juices in their High Juice range. This is really good, as many other fruit squashes only use a tiny percentage, if any, of actual fruit in their products. In general, the High Juice series of squashes are fairly heathy - containing only around 0.1g of fat, and just a trace of salt.
The real benefits however, are that they contain natural sugar instead of sweeteners. Although sweeteners will prevent tooth decay, and can help control weight - they do add a nasty saccharin taste. This is one of the reasons why I can't drink either Robinson's regular fruit squash or their Special R Range, as the sweetener is all I can taste. Most importantly, these sweeteners contain Aspartame - a product which studies have shown can cause headaches, and also relate to more series side effects.
Costing around 40 - 50p more than the standard Robinson's squashes, the product still offers value for money when you consider that the quality and content of ingredients is of high standard.
My favourite flavour is the Apple, Strawberry & Lychee variety which is especially fruity. Blood Orange and Grape & Melon are also good choices, but the latter can be quite hard to get hold of. All of these flavours last a long time, and don't have to be chilled - but serving with ice can be a good option for the summer.
The only potential downside to this product is the slightly higher price - and I suppose there could be more flavours on offer - but neither of these are serious criticisms.
I would definitely recommend Robinsons High Juice to anyone - with their excellent range of flavours. They also provide a good alternative to those who either can't stand the taste, or are worried about the chemical side effects of sweeteners. They are a bit more expensive than other squashes, but you get what you pay for in terms of quality of ingredients. In my opinion, the best squash around, and probably the closest you'll get to a fruit juice flavour in a squash.
