Advantages: Taste

Disadvantages: May make you pee if drink the whole bottle in a single go.

I've been using this diluting juice or as Robinsons call it squash since my last stock up. In Lidl it was the cheapest on offer, so it was straight in the trolley as I tend to drink a few glasses a day. The benefit with this squash is that has no added sugar so you do not have to be as worried that your intake of sugar is getting too high.

It comes in a 1 litre sized bottle. The bottle is made of see through plastic and you can hence see the colour of the squash. The lid is a screw cap and so can be replaced after each use. There are also two lables on the bottle, one on the front stating what it is with pictures of apples and blackcurrents and the other on the back giving you all the necessary nutritional details etc. The packaging is widely recyclable for those who are environmentally aware.

They state that you should dilute 1 part concentrate with 4 parts water. This I believe is a bit too much and you can be a bit less generous with the squash and hence get more juice for your money.

The squash contains the following ingredients:
Water, fruit juice from concentrate (apple 85, blackcurrent 2%), citric acid, natural colour (anthocyanins), acidity regulator (sodium citrate), sweeteners (aspartame, saccharin), preservatives (potassium sorbate, sodium metabisulphite), natural flavouring.
It also contains a source of phenylalanine, so if you drink to much you may be paying a few visits to the toilet! Too much aspartame has also been suggested to cause cancer. It is suitable for vegetarians. As it does not have any added sugar I find the shelf life to be a bit shorter than some other squash but this only a real issue if you take 12 months plus to finish an entire bottle.

The squash has the following nutritional values per 100ml of concentrate:
Energy 37kJ/9kcal
Protein 0.1g
Carbohydrate 1.2g
Of which sugars 1.2g
Fat Trace
Of which saturates NIL
Fibre NIL
Sodium 0.1g

I personally find the taste of this squash very pleasant unlike some of the cheaper versions available in supermarkets which taste horrible.

Robinsons is made by appointment to HM Queen Elizabeth II and is available in all decent supermarkets.

Summary: Great tasting squash.
