Advantages: Tastes lovely, No added sugar, Good price, Quality brand.
Disadvantages: Runs out quickly.
One problem I regularly face is getting dehydrated, and although I try to drink as much as I can, I am not a huge fan of juice drinks or drinking straight water, therefore I pretty much get through the day on squash and cordials. I usually always opt for blackcurrant or orange squash, but something made me pick up this Robinsons summer fruits one when carrying out my shop earlier this month. I do love summer fruits drinks, but I never think to pick them up, therefore I thought I'd treat myself.
Although I am a student, I have discovered that sticking to a budget is hard, and after compromising Robinsons squash for some supermarket own branded in the past, I have realised that it is probably worth paying that little extra for quality. Robinsons are a great brand which create lovely drinks, and I have been using their cordials for years and years. Since I love their apple and blackcurrant flavour, I was hoping that the same high quality would be delivered in this summer fruits flavour too.
The bottle looks slightly different to that in the image, and this is because it has been modernised a little over the years, but all in all it is still easy to spot on the shelf. The bottle I purchased contains one litre of squash, and this is the only size I saw, however this could well be available in bigger sizes. One litre is perfect for me as I live alone, however it does only serve twenty glasses full, therefore it would go pretty quickly in a household of perhaps three or more. As this is not a double strength squash, it does mean that the bottle empties up pretty quickly which is unfortunate.
Previous to this, I had been purchasing own brand squash, however I didn't realise that Robinsons was so fairly priced in comparison. This bottle only set me back around £1.35 or so in Asda, and I often see the brand on offer. This isn't a great deal more to what I was paying before, so as far as price goes, I think this is great!
The most important element when purchasing squash has to be the taste overall. I am pretty sure that 'summer fruits' can vary depending on which brand of squash you purchase, however on the front of the bottle there is an image of an apple, strawberry, raspberry and cherry, therefore I assume these are the combined flavours to generate the summer fruits squash. Although it seems quite sweet and sickly, it is actually a lovely, fruity and refreshing drink and I love it. As far as taste goes, I really could not fault this at all. I love to drink it both weak and strong and the flavour is really tasty. It is perfect for hot days, and will be great for the upcoming summer. It is a flavour that is suitable for both adults and children so is perfect for the family. No faults at all here.
This squash contains no added sugar which is excellent and something I will always hunt for when buying drinks. There is next to nothing calories in each serving therefore you can trust that this is a much better option that fizzy drinks that are filled with calories and sugar, and I have actually started drinking this instead of Coke, meaning that my teeth are in a much better condition. Nutritional content of this is brilliant and I would recommend you try this as an alternative to sugary drinks.
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with this squash, and this is because it is of such a high quality in comparison to many other brands which I have purchased previous to this. The taste is fantastic and so are the nutritional values, meaning that it's a definite must. The only negative I have to say about this is that it does only contain twenty servings, and this obviously depends on the strength you make your squash. I find personally that I run out of this quite quickly, so have to keep buying it. Other than that, a yummy squash which I will continue to buy. Thanks for reading.
Summary: Nicest summer fruits squash I've tasted.
