Britvic Robinsons Fruit Shoot
by thriftygiftyisme
=Robinsons Fruit Shoot=
I think we were first introduced to Fruit Shoot by McDonalds in their Happy meals, although they only stock the blackcurrant and apple variety, and these are served in 200ml bottles, but Fruit Shoot also have additional flavours.
=The Bottles=
They come in a small plastic bottle of ... matching colours according to the flavour,
- Blackcurrant - Purple Bottle
Orange - Orange Bottle
Apple - Green Bottle
Red - Summer Fruits
Yellow - Tropical fruits.
=Design=
The bottles are designed with a little plastic spout that pulls up, you can either use your teeth or wrist action, it is a simple design, easy to push back down and can be drunk at another time, When you first get the bottles there is an outer plastic cap which is disposable.
=Drinks=
The drinks are sugar free and they also contain no artificial flavours or colours in the product, and the only sugar in the drinks are natural occurring sugar.
=Purchase=
If you have one as part of a McDonalds meal then you do only get a Blackcurrant flavour, but other retailers you can get most of the flavours from.
=Price=
This may sound daft but the prices do really vary, you can go to some locations and pick up a pack of 4 for £1, whilst in other retailers these can be as much as £1.80 for 4.
=Single Bottles=
Robinsons also produce single bottles of these, I am pretty sure they are a 300ml bottle, the design is the same as the small bottles. I tend to see these in retailers fridges and can be up to £1 a bottle
=labels=
these have a clear wraparound label, which has the description of the product and nutrition information on.
=My Opinion=
Although I like Robinsons drink I find that they are really sweet, despite being sugar free, they have a sweet taste, even my daughter has noticed this from a young age.
=So I buy=
I will only but these occasionally as I don't really feel that they are value for money, but if we are going out for a day, they are a handy size for a drink in the car and with the plastic cap I know there is less chance of drinks being spilt.
=Would I recommend=
I feel this is a sit on the fence moment, in all honestly, I would say as an occasional treat yes, there great, but there not a product that goes into my weekly shopping basket. Read the complete review |

Britvic Robinsons Fruit Shoot
by MsTricia
On the odd day when I buy my daughter a treat she may well get a little happy meal from McDonalds. It's really annoying as of course she cannot drink fizzy and like me she isn't a fan of pure orange juice so sometimes the only alternative is the Robinsons Fruit Shoot (which perhaps this is just me but the only flavour they offer is the ... Blackcurrant and apple variety.) To be honest this is the only time have ever consumed this drink as I just find it far too sweet and sickly even for a drink with "no added sugar" !!
They come in a little plastic bottle, of matching colour depending on the flavour - purple is Blackcurrant and apple, orange for orange, green for apple, red for summer fruits and yellow for tropical. They usually come packaged in small 200ml bottles so ideal for little ones to sip and nowhere near enough to quench an adults thirst!
The bottles are designed with little spouts that are pulled up either with teeth or a wrist action so the drink can flow out through it. I have to give the design of the bottle some kudos as it is easy even for my 3 year old to use, and is a practical and simple spill free feature once the lid is closed. There is even a plastic cap on top to provide extra security so spillages can definitely be prevented!
I have tried a few of the flavours, but mainly blackcurrant and apple and the summer fruits come to mind and for some reason they are REALLY sweet. With the blackcurrant and apple, to me it tastes predominantly of blackcurrant and considering it is from the Robinson's brand I expected it to taste like Robinson's dilute version but it has a much more sharp aftertaste and kick when swallowed!
The packaging explains they drink contains no artificial flavours or colours and only have natural sugars. This makes me feel a lot less guilty on the rare occasions I let her drink this, but even with that in mind I don't let this consumption happen too often!
These drinks can be purchased in a wide range, either individually or I often see them in Iceland or Poundland with 4 200ml bottles for £1 which is cheap value. I personally wouldn't recommend them as even with the less sugar content they taste overbearingly sweet so I think your better off with just a glass of water! Read the complete review |

Britvic J2O Apple & Melon
by Whizz11
When you're in a pub and don't fancy an alcoholic drink but also don't fancy a fizzy drink my favourite thing to drink is a J2O. I think nearly every pub I go to has a big stock of these in their fridge and it's always a welcome change from the usual fizzy soft drinks that you can buy off tap and apparently, according to an article I ... read, it was developed with just that in mind, to provide an alternative solution for people who were going out to bars and clubs but weren't drinking alcoholic beverages. J2o's were first brought out in 1998 so they have been around for quite a long time now.
A J2O is basically a fruit juice drink that comes in a number of interesting different flavours such as orange and passion fruit and apple and mango. I do find the name quite clever as according to an article I read, "The name 'J2O' is a pun on the chemical formula forwater, H2O, chosen due to the drink's 50% fruit juice content."
Apple and melon, or the green one as I like to call it is my favourite as I find this one really smooth and mellow and not too acidic or citrusy like some of the other flavours can be. This was one of the first flavours Britvic brought out and I think I have probably been drinking it since then. Luckily my local pub still stocks this one as most places just seem to have the orange one nowadays so I'm glad I can still get it. The drink is smooth and does not have any fruit bits in it which is nice and I think these flavours really compliment each other. The melon definitely calms down the apple and the drink is smooth rather than sharp like some apple based drinks can be.
The drink comes in a 275ml glass bottle, much like a beer bottle and when it is served to you it always comes with a nice pint glass of ice to really cool it down. This is my favourite way of drinking it.
Per 100 ml there are 39 calories so a lot you drink a whole bottle you are well over 100 calories just for one drink, a bit calorific but then fruit juices usually are and I don't think about that when I am enjoying a nice refreshing j2o.
Something to consider next time you are in the pub! Read the complete review |
