Advantages: Sweet, light, refreshing

Disadvantages: Tends to be expensive in pubs, can get you tipsy quite quickly!

I have always been a lager girl myself. I started drinking at the time when Stella Artois was the 'in' drink, and so never really got the deal with cider. Until I tasted Bulmers.
Until summer last year, I had never even heard of the stuff. When I went out, I stuck strictly to a half of Stella or a cheeky vodka and coke. Then, one day while sat in a pub with a friend, she suggested we try a cider rather than a lager. She already had a Strongbow, so I tried hers. And really didn't like it! But she wouldn't let up, and for her next round at the bar, brought me back a a bottle of Bulmers Original.
I must admit, I was sceptic. The bottle is brown, with an apple shaped label onthe front, and gold foil around the neck. Looking at it, it seemed like the sort of bottle you would see someone drinking from a brown paper bag in the movies! The packaging certainly hasn't been aimed at my demograpic group, looking like a bottle you may find a more traditional ale in.
But I thought I would give it a try. And, I am pleased to admit, I was wrong about the drink. The cider is sweet, light, and refreshing. It is easy to drink- possibly too easy! I found this to actually be a great summer drink, quenching your thirst on a hot day as sometimes only a pint will do.
And now I am hooked. I try to go careful with these, as at 4.5% volume they don't sound strong- but I'll guarantee you will be tipsy well before you would expect to be!
The only downfall with this for me is it tends to be an expensive drink, with retailers and pubs all cashing in on the latest trend for these designer ciders.
All in all, I would definitely recommend this to any first time cider drinkers out there.

Summary: A fabulous drink!
