I Thought Cider Was Only Made From Apples (Bulmers Pear Cider)

Advantages: Refreshing and tastes lovely

I don't like cider so when my cousin gave me a bottle of this Bulmers pear cider I thought it would be as bad as the Strongbow and other ciders that I've had in the past and hated.

The difference is that this one doesn't taste harsh or catch at the back of my throat like other ciders do. It's a proper refreshing drink that is more like an alcopop than cider because it's so sweet and smooth to drink. It's fizzier than I thought it would be but I love it that you can taste the pear in it because apple cider tastes nothing like apples but this one tastes like alcoholic pear juice! It's mad that it should taste so nice because cider is naturally a rank drink and that's why the wreck heads drink it in the park but this is a more sophisticated drink.

I like the fact that the taste of pears wears off after a bit and then the drink is just very fruity with a refreshing bite after each mouth full. I don't get that horrible furry taste in my mouth like I do with normal cider and this one is so refreshing that it makes my mouth feel clean after I've drunk it.

I also like the way this pear cider is a bit tangy but stays smooth as I drink it, it doesn't feel harsh at all in my throat but it's stronger than it tastes and even though it's only got an alcohol content of 4.5% it made me feel tipsy quicker than it should have.

I won't drink this too often because I had a bit of a headache the morning after and I can't be arsed with getting hangovers because I've got too much to do in the day. I reckon this is the perfect bbq drink when it's hot because poured into a glass with ice it's proper refreshing and would cool you down good on a hot day.
