 ... Bridge Porter weighs in at 4.5% ABV and was originally brewed, using Dark Malt, for a Beer Festival in 1983 ~ it has since become one of Burton Bridge Brewery's regular beers. Looks wise, Burton Porter is very dark. When you first see it you will think it's almost black, but when you hold it up to the light it takes on a ruby red colour (very distinctive of a Porter). Last night we went to a CAMRA meeting at The Derby Tup ~ one of Chesterfield's most famous Real Ale pubs. We tried one or two beers but also opted for an old favourite. Being quite partial to Milds, Stouts and Porters, we settled on a beer we had enjoyed before ~ Burton Bridge Porter. The Burton Brewery, located on Bridge Street in Burton on Trent Staffordshire, began brewing in 1982 ~ June to be precise! The brewery was founded by Bruce Wilkinson and Geoff Mumford, who were employees of Allied Breweries.
