Not a touch on Aero or Options (Cadbury Highlights Instant Hot Chocolate)

I'm a big lover of hot chocolate, and recently reviewed the Aero Hot Chocolate, which is wonderful, and certainly the best powdered Hot Chocolate I've ever had (although Options is also rather good). Despite being from prominent chocolateers Cadbury, this is a disappointingly watery and tasteless offering that I shan't be buying again.

Sadly, whilst these sachets lack the high calorie and fat content of Cadbury's chocolate, they also lack the amazing taste. After buying a 220g jar, which set me back about £2.60, I had wished that I'd just stuck with the Aero Hot Chocolate, for to even give this a hint of flavour, I had to load my mug up with far more than the recommended number of spoonfulls, which also means that the jar got used up rather quickly. Not so cost effective really, is it?

Under the recommended serving of 3 teaspoons per drink, this drink contains only 40 calories, but sadly that healthy content is at the cost of the taste. Aero and Options may have a little more calories in them, but considering it's still only around the 90 calorie mark, I think I can put up with it. If it was recurrent that these powdered drinks had no taste, I could almost let Cadbury's off the hook, but the fact that both Aero and Options vastly outfox them means I'll begrudgingly give this product a 3-star rating.

You know you're in trouble when your drink smells marginally more appetising than it actually tastes, but sadly, this is true of Cadbury Highlights. Read my Aero Hot Chocolate review if you're looking for a rich, creamy and altogether well priced alternative.
