Advantages: Tastes gorgeous :)
Disadvantages: High in fat and calories per cup :(
I love pretty much anything's with Cadbury's as long as it's milk and not plain chocolate...
I also love hot chocolate drinks so it makes sense to buy my favourite brand for a beverage too!
This 224g plastic tub (recycle please after use!) of 'Hot Chocolate Instant' only cost one pound recently on offer so it had to be done ;)
The tub itself is like an hour glass figure shape so it's really easy to grip and has the famous purple Cadbury's colour with the picture of a steaming cuppa on the front.
The write up says to store in a cool dry place and the product lasts until Feb next year so it stores very well as it a dried powder.
On opening the gold foil seal the unique smell of Cadbury's wafts up out of the container and smells mouth watering gorgeous! Tasting the medium brown powder it is horrible though, yuk.
The advice is to put four heaped teaspoons into a cup and then add boiling water stirring well, I always add the last inch topped up with cold milk - it makes it creamier plus cools it quicker so I can drink it quicker! ;-p
The ingredients include 41.5% drinking chocolate along with 4.9% chocolate. The calories are 120 per serving (28g) or 425 per 100 g; the fat content is 3.9g per serving or 14g per 100g.
This is pretty high so this should be an occasional treat...or in my case an every night occurrence! There is an Options version by the same maker that is only 40 calories and tastes just about as nice...
As for the flavour, this is really gorgeous - creamy and rich chocolate that smells heavenly and quite thick in frothy texture.
If you want an authentic whipped hot chocolate you can just whisk thoroughly to make a really bubbly topping too.
I love this drink and think its one of the tastiest instant chocolate drinks there is, and you get around eight servings in each jar so it's pretty good value too, five stars from me :)
Summary: Really rich flavour, yum! ;-P

- 03/09/09 I've never found one that you make with boiling water that doesn't taste watery. It's why I always use milk. But this one is okay? |
