Cadbury instant break chocolate A winter warming drink. It was a cold dark night; there was no heating in the house we were huddled round the television (could have been romantic and said open fire) for warmth. I needed/ wanted some inner warmth, something soothing creamy and chocolaty. I head for the food store a cardboard box in my sitting room and find a tall dark brown jar with a dark blue/purple lid. Around the jar is wrapped a blue/purple label with a grey centre swirl on it a picture of …… a mug of hot chocolate with a swirl of cream. The writing says Cadbury instant break. I lick my lips in anticipation. . I put my hand around the blue/purple lid of the chocolate jar it is a good fit. I twist the lid open and am met with a wonderful rich chocolaty smell (I have previously broken the inner blue seal which has Cadbury written on it many times). I put heaped teaspoons of the brown chocolate granules in to my mug. The water boiled I poured water onto the chocolate powder and stirred with a spoon (I also made my dearly beloved a cup of tea he did not want chocolate) I added a little milk as I wanted my chocolate NOW and it was too hot. I sat down huddled next to my husband; I lifted the cup to my mouth and was met by the wonderful creamy chocolaty aroma of the drink. I slowly sipped the drink to savour the first taste. I experienced a rich smooth seducing chocolate flavour. I hungrily gulped about half of the cup. Then I stirred the remaining drink as I find that the chocolate powder/sludge settles in the bottom of the mug I then drank the rest of the mug slowly, savouring the smooth texture and taste of the drink. I was satisfied when my drink came to an end. I did not feel I needed more. I huddled up to my husband and we settled in for the cold winters night. This drink is better made half water half milk and great with a flake crumbl
ed on top of it Now in the grey morning light I examine the label hat surrounds the jar. The jar contains 400g of grainy chocolate powder, Each 100g contains 425kcal, a serving of 28g 120 kcal. Carbohydrates 64.2 per 100g Fat 14g per 100 g Protein 10.9 g per 100 I just checked tesco and for a 400g jar it cost 1.68. For a twin individual drink sachet 38p For 16 pk of individual drink sachet it cost 1.18 Thank you for reading about my chocolate experience. Written when feeling fed uo with building works unable to use kitchen cooking in sitting room with microweave , have a good christmas , my building work nearly complete best wishes Mary

- 30/12/03 I agree, this is much better made with half milk. Even better is regular hot chocolate! I do hope your building work gets finished soon, you must be really fed up with it all by now. Sue |
