Advantages: Delicous
Disadvantages: Fattening
I do love a cup of hot chocolate in the evening, after a nice warm bubble bath. Once I am settled on the settee with a good film a mug of hot chocolate is bliss.
When on a diet I drink Options sachets but when I am feeling frivolous and uncaring about calories I prefer Cadbury's drinking chocolate.
They tell you to make it with hot milk and this just adds to the creamy taste. My nephew usually makes his with boiling water and it just doesn't have the same soft taste that you get with hot milk. I use just two heaped teaspoons full of powder in a mug of milk and this makes it the perfect strength for me, with a soft, creamy texture that does resemble a bar of Cadbury's dairy milk. It is not quite as strong a flavour as the bar though and this makes it easier to drink and enjoy as a drink, as it would be hard to swallow if it were too chocolaty in taste.
It is not too expensive at around £1.30 for a smaller tub and about £2.80 for the larger one, although there are certainly cheaper brands out there. However if you really enjoy a hot chocolate I would stick to Cadbury's as the taste is superior to other makes in my opinion.
It relaxes me and the children sometimes have it before bed to get an extra portion of milk into them but also to calm them down ready for sleep. They enjoy it too but remember it is not a low fat drink, even with the milk in it to make it good for you in that respect. Enjoy it sensibly. Yummy!

Skyedame - 21.07.08 Been a long time since I opened up a tin of proper, creamy drinking choccie. I've been buying the low-fat stuff (not cadbury) and it's not exactly thrilling! Lou x |
