 ... Caledonian Brewery produces and in my opinion is the best! Other beers include Caledonian 80 and Caledonian XPA. Deuchars IPA is a pale and and has a very distinctive taste - the taste of the hops is definately there accompanied by a slightly bitter taste. Very smooth with a definate citrus-y aftertaste. Extremely drinkable and highly recommended! If you like other pale ales, then this is a great beer to try next. The Caledonian Brewery was opened in 1869 by George Lorimer Jr after the death of his father. His business partner was Robert Clarke, a man he met on his local golf course. The pair opened a brand new brewery called Lorimer and Clark's Caledonian Brewery. This brewery was built on the site were the current brewery stands today. In the early 1900s, ownership of the brewery passed onto Vaux breweries and remained in their hands until the 1980s. The brewery was nearly finished in 1995 after a fire soread throughout the building. Deuchars IPA is just one of the ales that the Caledonian Brewery produces and in my opinion is the best! The Caledonian Brewery, known locally as The Caley, began in 1869 in Edinburgh. They were purchased by Vaux in 1919 and were eventually saved from closure in 1985, by a management buy-out. The Caley still has three open coppers in its Victorian Brewhouse (which gives their beer a rather distinct and unique flavour) and produces a variety of cask beers which it supplies to free trade outlets ~ they don't own any pubs of their own. Their beers are produced using water from what is known as Edinburgh's Charmed Circle of Brewery Wells ~ the water and other ingredients are all found locally and techniques are virtually unchanged from the 19th Century. ...  Read the complete review
