Not normally my first choice of drink, but while in the supermarket this afternoon I saw this in the chiller at the tills and decided to buy one. Although there was 500ml bottles of Diet Coke and so on, I got this as i've been in the sun all afternoon, totally sunburnt and looking for a fruity soft drink. Also this felt a lot colder than the plastic bottles so I grabbed one and gulped it down fast.
Capri-Sun has certainly changed since I remember it. Although it is still in a squidgy silver pouch, it now seems a bit sturdier, and instead of having to jab your plastic straw into the hole in the pouch and drink it this way (very easy to lose your straw in the pouch, which made it so hard to drink from), they now have a plastic valve thing at the top of the pouch, and this is covered by a plastic lid.
I think it is still only the 2 flavours you get in this which is Orange, and Apple and Blackcurrant. I would have picked the Orange, but Asda was out of stock in the fridge so I settled for the Apple and Blackcurrant one. It was nice and fruity, and tasted like it was meant to taste. The pouch says it is made with Natural Fruit Juice and there is no artificial ingredients. it is also suitable for vegetarians.
I paid 78p for a 330ml pouch, which isn't the cheapest drink out there. I think you can buy these in multipacks as well, but unsure of how much in a pack and the cost.
I've never came across a diet version of these, but I am off my diet today due to having a bbq. Not to worry, as i'm back on the straight and narrow tomorrow.
Nutritional information per 330ml pouch
142 calories
34.3g sugars
trace fat
trace saturates
0.1g salt.
So the calories and sugars aren't exactly good for you, but it did cool me down and quench my thirst. Not a drink I would buy all the time, but it was a good refreshing change.
