... a cheap, miserly lout, since this drink is mostly favoured by drunks, tramps, children and other members of the lower orders. If you're looking for something economical that isn't too harsh on the palate, I would suggest that you loosen the purse strings a little bit and buy Fosters, Carslberg or Castlemaine XXXX, don't stoop to Carling, it's just not worth it. This is definitely worth avoiding. Cheap, low quality, stale tasting and weak in volume, not a good lager at all. Not in the least bit recommended....more

Crowned Review Carling Lager: Lord of the cheap lagers (1665 words)

Carling, my most cherished of beverages, it may not have the taste quality or alcohol content of a Kronenbourg, but it is cheap. Carling is a middle strength lager at about 4.1%, nothing too special there, it is quite refreshing and crisp in taste but its redeeming feature is its price. Carling can be found in pubs and clubs for as little as £1.50, it is a very common beer in my part of the country and is normally one of the ubiquitous beers, so that it is found in pretty much every bar. You may detect through the course of this opinion that Carling is not only one of my favourite drinks but is also like a friend to me. I know everybody hates it and ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review WHO..hick..SAID I WAS A...hick...CLASSY BIRD? (890 words)

Being a sophisticated lady drinker, I don't generally drink common things like lager. Seeing as my boyfriend's favourite tipple is Carling (generally in a can) though, there are usually a fair few cans in the fridge at home. So as my finances don't really stretch to my choice of cocktails every night, it has to be Carling the rest of the time. Most pubs do Carling on tap as the standard lager, so blokes get used to the taste of it from a young age (preferably 18 but you know what young people are like). Just as a lot of kiddies are weaned on McDonalds Happy Meals, young men are weaned on the taste of Carling. Compared to other lagers such ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Carling Lager: Cool and refreshing, with a nifty can! (502 words)

I'm off on a weeks holiday tomorrow, so the last week has been a case of frantically trying to get organised - delivering guinea pigs and fish to various friends to be looked after, trying to get the fridge empty so I don't end up wasting food, washing, drying and then packing clothes . All this for a week in Sussex . So, tonight I felt I deserved a break, and decided to get myself some ice cold beer from the local offy. Today, I felt like something fizzy and burp inducing , and opted for Carling, with 8 cans being on offer for £6. I can have some tonight, and have some in the fridge when I get back! So, I'm sitting at my computer with a lovely cold ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Dishwater or British pride? (536 words)

I like beer, as do many of us, but after a recent holiday in Belgium I have come back a bit of a beer snob. The beer in Belgium (mainstream beer too) is wonderful, full of rich flavours and has a decent kick to it which is different to many mainstream beers found in the UK. I know you can get good Real Ales in the UK but I thought I would look at a selection of the more popular beers you can get easily throughout the UK starting with Carling. The tin of carling I have chilling in my fridge contains 440ml of 4% vol beer and cost me £1.09. The tin is black and white and boasts that Carling is made with British barley and has been for over 30 years, the beer ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Carling Lager: Carling, darling? (772 words)

As a kid I didn't know any better. When I first started hitting the pubs I used to drink bottles of K cider, pints of mild & bitter. I even, and I'm kind of ashamed to admit this, bought the odd half every now & then. It's not something I'm proud of. There's nothing wrong with bitters if you're middle-aged & have a beard, cider is also fine if you have leanings in that direction and if you're a pensioner and can still find it then drink mild by all means but if you're a youngish man (or lady in some more relaxed areas of the country) then lager should be the alcoholic beverage of choice. The best selling lager in the UK is ...  Read the complete review
