Carte Noire un café nomme desir
Carte Noire is a freeze-dried instant coffee, imported exclusively by the Kenco Coffee Company.
I have been drinking Carte Noire for a few years now, it is our coffee of choice. It is an arabica coffee and has a full-rounded heady aroma, and makes for a strong aromatic cup of coffee. Yes it is an instant coffee but it has a distinctive flavour and aroma. It has quite a bitter taste, but doesn't leave an unpleasant aftertaste. I love opening a new jar of this coffee, there is a strong almost chocolaty smell when you first pierce the inner seal covering the jar.
I try not to drink too much coffee, I generally have 2 cups a day in work. When making my coffee I add one good sized teaspoonful to a large cup/mug pour on just freshly boiled water add a small drop of milk and enjoy. I like my coffee very hot and with only a small amount of milk.
Carte Noire comes in a distinct jar. It comes in a black glass jar with the Carte Noire name printed in black letters on a white label. The jar has quite a large plastic lid, why the lid needs to be so big I don't know but I suppose it is to make it stand out.
I generally buy the 100g size jar, it can also be bought in other sizes including 200g. At present it is priced at £2.74 for 100g in Asda. There is also a decaffeinated version available, although I have not tried this.
