Advantages: If you're drinking it in its home country then you're in a wonderful place

Disadvantages: Offers nothing different from any other lager

Whenever you talk to South Africans about beer they always seem to try and convince you how wonderful Castle lager is. Do not listen to them, it's just another lager with nothing special about it in anyway.

I was lucky enough to travel to Southern Africa a couple of years ago and Castle is very similar to the other lagers in that region. Zambezi, Lion, and Castle all have the same boring taste. They offer nothing new for beer drinkers and should be avoided at all costs. The problem is that if you do go to Southern Africa you have no option but to put up with this attempt at a beer. Do not waste your money at the 'Offie', only if they're on a very very special offer should any sane person consider buying some of South Africa's supposed best.
