Advantages: Refreshing golden lager

Disadvantages: nothing special

Chang Lager initially a little bit weaker than Singha, is currently pegged at the same ABV of 5%, Chang famously sponsored Everton and also went on a promotional offensive on digital and cable channels around the world making it a household name despite not being available in too many places except Thailand and Thai restaurants around the world.

Design wise, Chang wins hand down with some funky elephants on the front.

When it comes to taste, Thai beers are a little better than their Asian counterparts, Chang are only about 15 years old as a company and the recipe doesn't claim to be derived from a European one like their competitors.

From the outside looking in though, it's still very similar to a typical European pale lager, golden in colour with a medium sized white head. Tastewise it's quite sweet and a little fruity but the flavour is not particularly strong.

In fact you could even describe it as bland and a little watery, it goes down with ease particularly in the S.E. Asian heat. There's quite a lot of lacing initially but this does have a tendency to fade. I couldn't really settle on a particular Thai beer, they all seemed drinkable without being particularly impressive and that's the case here with Chang.

Summary: Drinkable
