Can I recommend to all travellers to Malta that if they like trying local produced products that they sample Cisk, while they are on the island. Cisk is brewed locally and has been described as a hoppy, bitter lager with a hint of lemon. The brewery was set up initially by a British company Simonds who opened the brewery to satisfy the demand of the garrison. Later on it merged with a local company to create today's brewery. The brewery also produces ales but these are keg not cask conditioned products.
