For a few seconds, the author was transported to grander times when the Raj was omnipresent and the British ruled the Indian sub-continent. He pictured elephants washing in the river Ganges, straddled by hard working locals swigging their Cobra beer. He looked into the bottom of the beer glass and reflected on the events that had gone before. How he enjoyed a nice Cobra but it had been such hard work getting to drink it! Things never worked out between the author and the girl of his dreams. It turned out that she was a heavy smoker (he wasn’t so keen on smokers) and a somewhat loose woman. Whilst this may have had it's advantages, on this ... Read the complete review

It's well documented by my friends that I am not a particular fan of lager. When down the pub you will only ever see me with a pint of real ale, usually shuddering at the sight of fosters or carling being poured. There are, however, a couple of lagers that I do consider excellent quality but rarely see on pump. Cobra is one of those beers. A premium beer with a 5% ABV, Cobra is often seen in Indian restaurants on draught and bottled. Originally brewed in India but now in the UK and Belgium (I think) Cobra easily sits in my top 5 lagers. Like most lagers, cobra pours a golden amber with a traditional head. The first thing you will notice is it seems ... Read the complete review

I'm not into beer at all! I'm more of an alcopop type of gal with a liking for the odd tipple of champers thrown in for good measure but really when it comes down to alcohol...if it tastes it I'm not enthralled! Guess that's the kid in me! However I do love Cobra beer. The reason for this is that it's mine and my Step-dads 'thing'. We have Indian takeaways rather often and so he always grabs me on the way out of the door and while we wait for our order we have a bottle of Cobra and eat the free Bombay mix that's always out! Now at first I didn't like the stuff at all but was too polite to say so, so drank it anyway to not rock the boat. I found it too bitter for my ... Read the complete review

Cobra Beer is well known to anyone who enjoys good Indian Cuisine, it is one of the beers of choice in many Indian restaurants in the UK and is available in draught or bottled form. Although I always thought it had a long and worthy history, Cobra Beer was actually founded in 1989, by a Law Graduate who wanted a less gassy lager. Originally the beer was brewed in India and exported to the UK, now it is brewed at Wells and Young along with Kirin and Red Stripe. The lager is expanding rapidly and is available in more than 6000 bars and pubs and 6000 restaurants, it can be bought in all major supermarkets and is now exported to over 50 countries ... Cobra is a wonderful Lager hailing from India. I first discovered this beer through drinking it in Indian restaurants, it always went down really well with the food but I never thought to really buy it from the supermarket. However since then I have began to pick Cobra up from the supermarket fairly regularly. It has a more refined and sophisticated taste than most of your bog standard, commerical lagers you see around. Stuff like Carling, Carlsberg, Fosters et al especially an have quite a chemically, sterilised sort of edge to them where as Cobra is a lot more clean and crisp in taste. The beer compliments strong tasting food really well which ... Read the complete review
