Advantages: Made with natural ingredients, suitable for vegetarians and has a shelf life of 12 months

Disadvantages: No nutritional information given

I'm not into beer at all! I'm more of an alcopop type of gal with a liking for the odd tipple of champers thrown in for good measure but really when it comes down to alcohol...if it tastes it I'm not enthralled! Guess that's the kid in me! However I do love Cobra beer. The reason for this is that it's mine and my Step-dads 'thing'. We have Indian takeaways rather often and so he always grabs me on the way out of the door and while we wait for our order we have a bottle of Cobra and eat the free Bombay mix that's always out! Now at first I didn't like the stuff at all but was too polite to say so, so drank it anyway to not rock the boat. I found it too bitter for my taste-buds but something clicked and I like it so much now that my Step-father buys us a couple of boxes a week as a treat!

The Bottle....

Dark murky but see through tapered dark brown 330ml bottle with a gold cap to the top if it and on that I'm indeed told it's Cobra. On the yellowy gold label to the top of the bottle I'm told it is 'Specially brewed to an authentic Indian recipe and double-filtered for a uniquely smooth taste'. Then I'm told it's Premium Smooth Cobra and then there is a dark green label and on that I'm told it contains 5% alcohol and the size is stated and that it's the 'Worlds most celebrated larger, a result of our quest for the perfect beer'. On the back of the bottle ingredients are listed, alcoholic value is again given as is the recycle symbol and finally there is a bar-code on there. Decent large size bottle this is!

The Beer....

Well its a rich yellowy colour, slightly bubbly and foams up when poured nicely though not overly so. The 330ml size gives half a pint and it's great added with ice this one cos it doesn't go flat as a pancake over time. I find this beer to be rich in yeast, hops and malt giving it a slightly sour tang to it. It's pleasantly sweet in a natural way as well. The beer stores well, as I've mentioned already doesn't go flat as soon as it's poured and has a pleasant yeasty smell to it. In the ingredient list rice and maize are added to this though I can't taste them this really does have a unique, rich flavour but is incredibly smooth and refreshing. What's more after drinking this unlike most beers it doesn't make your breath smell and as a gal that's prone to bloating I find a few of these doesn't do that to me either.

Not to alcoholicy for me these though I do get drunk easy on anything to be totally honest with you. These are pleasant and light and simply different to most other beers on the market boasting good quality and uniqueness!

Available in all good supermarkets, off licences and of course Indian restaurants and expect to pay about £2.00 a bottle unless in a restaurant!

Summary: My favourite beer!
