Advantages: Great piece of advertisting
Disadvantages: Didnt taste all that nice
Coca-Cola with Lime
Coca-Cola with Lime is a variety of coke that was tried in the mid 2000s. I vaguely remember it being advertised with the catchy song 'put the lime in the coke you nut'. The correct song was actually by Harry Nilsson and involved a lime and a coconut. It was a clever piece of adverting and was so catchy the new variety just had to be tried.
History of the Variety
The coke with lime flavor was released in the UK as part of a summer edition in 2005. It was basically the original coke recipe with a dash of lime. It was also available in the diet coke variety as well. The brand never took off despite being renamed coke with citrus cest and it was finally discontinued in 2007.
My opinion
This was an interesting attempt by coco cola to diversify their brand. The most common place that I saw this drink sold was in Woolworths and perhaps due to its unpopularity it was nearly always available at cut prices. The drink itself didn't taste all that nice in fact of the bottle became too warm the drink became a bit sickening.
Overall
It was worth a try by coca cola to try something new but sadly this drink failed to impress hence its discontinuation. The drink itself did not taste very nice however I have recreated the flavor using lime cordial at home and found it to be quite nice so in theory at least it is possible to have a nice coke and lime flavored drink. Sadly coca cola didn't manage to achieve it with this attempt.
Summary: Gone but not forgotten
