Advantages: Better for you than normal coke
Disadvantages: Still does not have that great coca cola taste
We have recently started buying this because my partner drinks an awful lot of coke but has recently decided he wants to be a bit healthier. Neither of us can stand the taste of diet coke so we thought this was worth a try.
This drink comes across as being the mans version of diet coke, unlike the normal coke its packaged in a black can, with red and silver writing so I would say the packaging is definitely aimed towards the male market.
Now this drink is called zero because it has absolutely nothing in it, when I mean nothing I mean, zero sugar, zero fat, zero saturates, trace of salt, in fact the only thing a can has is 1.8 calories (the same as diet cola), now a normal can of coke has 147 calories and 31.7g of sugar so the cola zero is a massive improvement. I'm not saying coke zero is good for you (as it still has all the caffeine and E numbers in it) it's just better than normal coke.
Now to the taste, well where do I start, Diet coke taste awful to me, it tends to leave a nasty artificial sweetened taste in my mouth and when we bought coke zero I assumed this would be very similar and I was wrong, it says on the can that it taste like coke but without the sugar, now I find this tastes far better than diet coke but its still not a patch on the real thing. I find this also leaves a weird aftertaste but I can't quite put my finger on what it reminds me of.
Out of all of the diet drink that are currently available I would say I like this one the best. This is not an unpleasant drink & I think if you drank enough of it you would get used to the taste, but for me even though its very bad for me I will always prefer the real thing.
Now a pack of 6 cans of normal cola is £2.69, and the cola zero is also £2.69 so its good to see that even though this is different to the normal coke it's the same price, I find that usually the option that is better for you tends to be more expensive.
Summary: Not the real thing but I prefer this to other diet drinks by far

- 12/07/09 I always wonder why we drink cola/pepsi. Maybe we should all stick to water, sure'd be a lot cheaper and healthier :D |
