Advantages: Calorie free, coke taste

Disadvantages: Too many fizzy drinks no good for you - even calorie free ones

I usually drink a lot of diet coke but recently the supermarket had run out so I bought Coke Zero instead. The can claims that coca cola zero has the great Coke taste with zero sugar. Well I though that was what diet coke was. Have done some googling on the subject and discover that the difference between the two is the types of sweetener used. Diet Coke contains aspartame and the Zero version has aspartame and another sweetener called asulfame. I haven't tried a blind taste test but I don't think there is much between them, perhaps the Zero version is slightly less sweet.

The biggest difference has got to be the name and the colour of the cans/bottles. I am guessing that there are a lot of people (men?) who don't like to be seen to be drinking a diet drink but nevertheless want to cut down on the amount of sugary drinks. Both versions are priced the same and I would buy it again but the diet version would be my first choice as I do think it probably tastes a little sweeter.

Summary: Acceptable substitute for diet coke

I LOVE coke (the pure calorie variety) and have tried many different sugar-free alternatives in the hope of finding something that is acceptable to my taste buds. Pepsi-max is the only one my fussy taste buds are willing to accept.
