Advantages: No calories or fat content
Disadvantages: No taste
Coca-cola seems to be the dominating force when it comes to the trends of societies soft drink drinking.
Coke Zero goes with the trend of people wanting the same taste of a cola but without all the sugar and calories that come with it (even colas own slogan matches 'great Coke taste, zero sugar).
I bought a 330ml can on special offer, 4 for £1.
Packaging
Coke has changed the design from it's original cans and wrappers on bottles from red to black for the 'zero' drink. It still has the same recognisable 'Coca-Cola' on the front with the added 'zero' underneath. The coke brand catches a lot of peoples attention and then you see which variety it is, if it is something different from Coke it is usually worth a try.
Everything about the packaging is laid out quite neat and precise.
Along the top of the can is a yellow band and black writing telling me the RRp price is 49p, however I got them on special offer with some Tango from a bargain shop.
On the back tells us the typical information, the nutrition and ingredients along with contact details for coke and where to find the Best Before Date.
The BBE is on the bottom of the can but it is only 2 months away, this may be because of the store I bought it from and nothing to do with the shelf life of typical coke products.
Nutrition per 330ml can
1 calorie
0 fat
0 sugar
0saturated fat
trace salt
All in all this information sounds very appetising for those trying to loose weight or just eat healthier but you need to really look at what they are adding instead to make the coke taste like a coke.
Taste
I am glad I got this drink on offer just to try it because it really isn't the same 'great coke taste' I would get with buying a normal or diet coke. It has barely any taste. It left me with that almost headache feeling of slight dehydration and makes me want another drink, just not another coke zero drink. I want to reach for a bottle of water to refresh myself with.
The taste is so bland that once the drink is gone I can't remember what it actually tastes like, that is probably the only reason I would ever drink another.
I don't see the point to this drink, it has no taste of coke and, if it is a small caffeine fix you are after, the only caffeine present is the flavouring of.
If you want a quick caffeine fix with low calories and sugar have a cup of tea instead.
Summary: Zero falls short for me I would rather have tea instead
