Advantages: It's tastes sooo good!
Disadvantages: It pretty much guarantees a hefty dental bill
Coca-Cola is one of the oldest and most widely distributed brands of soft drink in modern history, although to be honest I have no idea why. Coca-Cola is one of those incredibly destructive vices we all have, but hate ourselves for. It's acidic enough to chew through your teeth like a blowtorch through butter, and has enough caffeine and E numbers to wire you up like the Blackpool illuminations, not to mention the calories. Then again, I'm in no position to preach. I drink just as much coke as everyone else, and I love it.
Coke comes in a variety of different flavours and different bottles, my favourites being coke, cherry coke, coke and lime, and diet coke. So all of them basically, expect coke zero. I hate coke zero. It also comes in cans, plastic bottles and glass bottles. Although I personally find the 330ml cans fizzier and generally more refreshing, I do find the aluminium after taste a bit unpleasant, whereas the 250ml bottles taste purer but somehow less refreshing. Then there's my personal holy grail of cola, the glass bottles. Yes they are expensive, but they taste so much better and have a delightful nostalgia about them. I personally only get them once in a blue moon, since that's how often I can afford them, but man...it's a good blue moon.
Coke has very unusual taste, presumably due to that top secret ingredient they swear to have, so unusual I'm not entirely sure how to describe it. I suppose it's sort of fruity and sweet, with a hint of caramel. After all, how does one describe the taste of coke? All we know is the ingredients, which are carbonated water, phosphoric acid, caffeine, sugar, natural flavourings and E150d. Oh, and cocaine, at one point anyway.
It has to be said, Coca-cola isn't good for you. After all, they can clean 2p pieces with it, and apparently it makes a very effective spermicide. But after all, humantiy makes a habit of ingesting things that are bad for us, so there's no point getting too worried about it. At 60-85p a can or bottle it isn't especially expensive, and it's very tasty and refreshing. Plus the caffeine can give you a nice little boost if your feeling a bit drowsy. Let's face it, who doesn't like coke?
Summary: One of world's best soft drinks

- 30/05/09 Interesting read. Spermicide? Cleaning 2p pieces? I personally don't really like it but can drink it anyway. I prefer Pepsi and Dr pepper. :P |
