Advantages: Great branding, very popular

Disadvantages: Sugary, causes bloating and dehydrates

Created in the United States in 2006, Coca Cola is one of the few brands in the world that the whole planet know and love.

It is available pretty much everywhere, in cans, 330ml bottles, 1 litre or 2 litre bottles, there are many imitators with high street brands and variations including diet coke, cherry coke and zero coke, but this is still the one everyone is aware of.

The brand is available in supermarkets, local shops, restaurants bars, street vendors, everywhere, a can generally costs around 50p and a litre bottle is on sale for £1 in Sainsburys in my area at the moment. Asda also have a special offer where you can buy two 6 packs of coke (Cans)for £2.

I have had to drink quite a bit of the stuff recently having a few nights as designated driver, with lemon and ice it can be refreshing on a hot summers day, but after a while it really does affect your stomach and create a gassy feeling and a feeling of bloating, I only had 4 glasses over the course of an afternoon and evening but my initial enjoyment changed to a need for water, as Cola is dehydrating and seems to contain way too much sugar meaning after you've had one you need another drink, so you have another coke which makes you worse, although you should switch to water at this stage.

The flavour in coke comes from caffeine from Kola nuts and this used to come from the Coca leaf, which is also used to make cocaine, the drink is dark and has a distinctive if not entirely nice flavour, but it is moreish and the more you drink, the more you want.

Coke is fine in moderation and is popular among kids, I remember when I was a kid having a glass of coke with a spoon of ice cream in the glass making a strange kind of dessert, I don't think i'll be trying that again now!!
