The hardest decision sometimes is whether to make yourself a good old cup of tea or a cup of coffee instead! Tea has so many different flavours with all these new fruit teas and mint teas around. Still, I do love a warming coffee in the morning as they just taste lovely and are made for mornings! They have quite a bit more caffeine in them than tea does, however it is only a stimulant drug and won't do much harm. The coffees I normally have are any from the Nescafe range. They sell great coffee, whether it is dark, gold or any of their other varieties - they always taste lovely! I also have a Nespresso machine, which I would highly recommend checking out! You ... I don't know quite what it is about coffee, but it always ends up a little bit disappointing. It's a drink that starts off so well. If you do it properly and have ground coffee, the smell is fantastic. It's the sort of smell that sneaks round corners and draws you in to wherever it is. Encouraged by this, you boil the kettle, and then sensbily leave it for two or threeminutes to avoid scalding the coffee. It carries on smelling good as you apply the water to the grounds. And then things start to go wrong. The lovely smell goes. It's replaced by quite a nice smell, but it's just not in the same league. You carry on hoping that the taste of ... Read the complete review

++This is a streamlined version of the original op – I think the original was a little too long! No extra info added, just a few spare words removed++ By the way, I have it on good authority that a group of goats is indeed a herd and not a flock thanks for all the Sound of Music fans out there who helped me with this one (you know who you are!) I’m writing this because I have a fairly obvious passion for the burnt toffee coloured elixir as well as a good knowledge built up over the years developed by working in some large well-established coffee companies. I really want to share with you some of the history of coffee a little about ... Read the complete review

Those of you who read my opinions regularly (thank you!) will probably know by now that I am somewhat the coffee fan. I cannot start the day without my ritual injection of coffee. That delicious, tich, black liquid - mmmmm. Of course, I am well aware of all the health risks associated with coffee. During my student days I pretty much ignored them - I would quite happily sit drinking cafetiere after cafetiere full of rich, strong coffee delight whilst thumping my way through philosophy essays at the last minute as usual. As I got older, I became more sensible, and have tried to restrict myself to the recommended limit of three cups a day, save for special ... Read the complete review

Aaaah Coffee, Joe, the old Java Java, Bean Juice. whatever you call it, it is said to be the second most traded item in the world (behind crude oil). Coffee is made using coffee beans, more accurately described as coffee seeds. The seeds come from little fruits known as coffee berries, the fruits themselves are harmless but do not tast particularly good when eaten. The beans are sorted then roasted, they are then ground and sometimes freeze dried to produce instant coffee (easy to brew but not quite as flavoursome). The drink was first cultivated in the Arab world around the fifteenth century and from there slowly travelled throughout the ... Read the complete review
