I am a big fan of this beer, but unfortunatly it isn't one that you can just get anywhere - a comman problem with many of the great real ales in the UK. The Coniston Blue Bird is a great feature of visiting Coniston, and just the sort of drink you want when you've just come down from climbing the Old Man. Refreshing, smooth and very moorish, one of the biggest problems is resisting going back for another pint. You can get gift packs including bottles and glasses to take away, and these make a wonderful present, if you can bear to part with them. Beers are very much down to individual taste, and describing them in words is seldom easy. However, I have yet to find ...

Coniston Bluebird Bitter is a remarkable success story. The Coniston Brewery is the micro brewery of the Black Bull Inn at Coniston in Cumbria in the heart of the Lake District. It was here that brewers Ian Bradley and Rob Irwin created this superb beer, which first got to be known to an increasing fan club of locals and visitors. It's fame spread by word of mouth and eventually came to the attention of CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale. In 1998 it was entered at the annual CAMRA Great British Beer Festival and walked away with the Supreme Champion Beer of Britain award.
