Coors Light

I decided last night that I fancied trying a bottled larger for my Saturday night drink. Whilst looking round the off licence I noticed that Coors Light was on offer. It had 2 four packs for £6 quid so I decided to give it a try.

What is Coors Light?

Coors light is an American themed beer. It advertises itself as the refreshing taste of the Rockies. The main brewery for the beer is located in Golden, Colorado and is the largest brewery on a single site in the world. The beer I had however is brewed in the UK but they still try to keep the link to Colorado as the main theme.

Coors light is a low calorie beer and each 250ml bottle comes in at 88 calories. The bottle is in a brown glass and feels quite light most probably from being recycled at some stage. The beer is also available in a can and is affectionately known as the silver bullet due to its distinctive silver colour.

My opinion

The beer is best served cold. They have what I think is a clever piece of marketing on the side of each drink. It's a cold activated sticker/label that turns blue when cold. The idea being that the drink should only be drunk when the label is blue. This is a good idea but half the time I forget to even look at this when I am drinking Coors light. The beer definitely tastes worse if drank warm and in my opinion should be served ice cold. When served ice cold it tastes clean, crisp and refreshing. It's a lovely drink to quench your thirst on a warm day.

Coinks

Coors light are currently running a reward programme whereby you earn coinks points each time you buy their brand. For instance the 4 pack I bought earned me 10 points. Since I got two I now have 20 points. For ten points you can get a class or a bottle opener, for 30 points you can get a t shirt. They had a lot of other rewards such as go karting and days out but these were all located in England and Scotland so no good to someone in Ireland such as myself. Though I was impressed by the low points threshold needed to gain a reward.

Overall

This is a great tasting beer with low calories. I would but the beer no problem but with the generous reward scheme at the minute I will be looking out for this next time im at the off licence. Hopefully by Christmas my whole family will have a Coors light t shirt in their stocking.

Summary: Great tasting beer
