Cow's Milk.........
I have to say that I am a massive fan of milk and for the most part it is pretty good for you. However I do tend to like it by the gallon load and full fat milk is my drink of preference. This however is not too good as it is high in fat. It is good for providing calcium and other vitamins such as A, B D and K but I do think it should be drunk within moderation.
I have recently started buying skimmed milk to go on my breakfast cereal which took a lot of getting used to but now I find this quite enjoyable too. Of course skimmed milk is the lowest fat containing milk going next being semi skimmed and last being the full fat variety.
There are quite a fair number of people however that are allergic to cow's milk and this is the reason why children under the age of 12 months should not try it, for fear of allergic reaction. People who are allergic will know that there are many alternatives out there such as Soya milk although personally I have not tried this.
Cravendale type milk is a relatively new addition to the milk shelves and this is basically regular cows milk that has been filtered a lot more to provide a smoother taste and a longer life. I tend to opt for this with all my milk purchases be it skimmed or full fat just for the fact that it does last longer and tastes a little nicer.
Milk on the whole is good and can be used for so many things. I have many different recipes that I add milk to when cooking to make up sauces etc. I also use milk in drinks such as teas or hot chocolates and then drink it on its own. I use it to wash my cereal down in the morning and Jack drinks it before he goes to bed. So because of all of this we tend to go through a rather high amount of milk per week but the prices are relatively good, especially for Cravendale which is always on offer of usually 2 2 litre bottles for £2, so it is not an expensive drink.
Cow's milk should be drunk by everyone as of course it has so many good vitamins and minerals held within it. Of course it is not suitable for everyone and I personally know a fair few people who just don't like the stuff. I however LOVE it!
I hope this has been of some help/interest to you.
Many thanks for taking the time to read.
Summary: a nice drink

- 12/05/09 Cow`s milk is certainly the best milk, I have never tried Soya milk but I have tried goats milk which is not nice, and cow`s milk might not come in as interesting containers as breast milk but it definitely tastes better LOL!! - Colin |
