... ale in . Indeed, I picked up the bottle from amongst the real ale section of the supermarket. The bottle is decorated with thistles, making it look quite scottish. Poured into a glass, it's a quite fizzy pale straw colour, much like your bog standard ginger beer, and it has a decent head to it . Taking a sniff, I can definitely smell ginger- not a trace of hops or malt anywhere in the aroma . Nor is there any or hoppy taste when I take a sip, but a lovely ginger flavour, not too sweet . It gives a pleasant burn t...more

My boyfriend and I were browsing the beer aisles of Sainsburys the other day trying to decide whether we fancied a drink that night. We'd just returned from staying in Eastbourne, where I'd spent a week trying all the local sussex real ales . I was still in this experimental mood, so, when I saw this hefty real ale style bottle proclaiming the contents to be alcoholic ginger beer, I fancied a try . I wasn't too sure what to expect - ginger beer could be two things . It could simply be a fizzy ginger beer (similar to the mixer bottles you can buy) which would make it some kind of grown up alcopop, or, it could be a real ale with slight ginger infusions. Premium Review Don't drink Crabbie's alcoholic Ginger Beer gingerly (615 words)

I'm an old fashioned girl at heart and love the old fashioned drinks such as saspherlila, Dandelion and Burdock and cloudy lemonade. Most of all like the Famous Five I love ginger beer. I love strong flavours and there is nothing better on a hot day than the fiery hit of a decent ginger beer. To awaken and tantalise my taste buds. I tend to drink Old Jamaica but was very excited when I came across Crabbie's original alcoholic ginger beer next to the real ales and ciders in Waitrose recently. Crabbie's are a Scottish company that are known for their green ginger wine but have now branched out intro grown up ginger beer that has enough alcohol in it at 4% to ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Crabbie's Original Alcoholic Ginger Beer: An Accidental Discovery, But One I Will Be Repeating! (171 words)

I actually bought this by mistake. It was shelved among the ales in Sainsbury's and, not reading the label thoroughly, expected it to be a ginger-infused ale along the lines of Badger's Blandford Fly. In fact, it's not an ale at all, but a traditionally brewed alcoholic ginger beer. Initially, I was surprised by it's sweetness, but it's actually a lot less sweet than most non-alcoholic ginger beers. The ginger is fiery, but that is to be expected and enjoyed, and it combines beautifully with the alcohol content (4%) to produce a lovely warming sensation whilst remaining very refreshing. You can really taste the fact that it is made with natural ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Great tasting alcoholic ginger beer (204 words)

I had heard about this drink from my partner so when we saw it in the shop yesterday I had to try it. I love ginger beer and thought it would be a nice change to my usual cider. Taste It is delicious and tastes just like 'normal' ginger beer except it has an extra kick. Must be the alcohol ! The instructions say to try it with ice and lemon I had half of the bottle with some ice and the rest without ice. I would recommend to leave the ice out as it watered it down. This is quite a filling drink so I think I could only manage one or two bottles. Price Although it is priced higher than non alcoholic ginger beer at £1.59 it is ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Crabbie's Original Alcoholic Ginger Beer: Buy it, love it, buy some more (182 words)

Having tried 'franks alcoholic ginger beer' in Wetherspoons and absolutely loved it I set myself a mission; To find a alcoholic ginger beer I could drink at home and after stumbbling across 'Crabbie's original ginger beer' I was pleasently surprised. For anyone who has tried 'franks alcoholic ginger beer' I say crabbie's has a ginger taste which is alot stronger and leaves a nice after taste in your mouth. It is also 5% so abit stronger than 'Franks ginger beer' I'd say to fully appricate the taste of crabbie's it should be drunk from a glass with a wedge of lemon or lime. As stated in a previous review adding Ice to it only seems to water the ...  Read the complete review
