Advantages: keeps for a couple of weeks in the fridge without the nutrients taken out!

Disadvantages: Non other than a little extra cost in the shopping trolley to start off with

We have been using Cravendale skimmed milk for a few years now (the red one rather than the blue pictured) My husband started buying it as because of the filtration system. The packaging states that it is 'filtered for purity' fresh and filtered and guarenteed for 7 days.
I have never ever had to throw any Cravendale milk away, its always had an amazing sell by date on it of probably upto 2 weeks on most occations!
we are very hit and miss as to how much milk we use ourselves, obviously our kids plough through masses of whole milk (Cravendale as well!)

The basic science bit is that the milk has not only been pasteurised as standard, but it has been finely filtered to make it purer for a fresher taste. They remove more of the natural bacteria that is prensent in all milk, which causes milk to sour, and thus making it last a lot longer than regular milk.
It is also homogenised, which simply means that it doesn't need shaking, and one doesn't get that creamy gooey rim arount the top.

I am not a milk drinker in its natural form, mearly in coffee and cereal etc. However, having recently swapped my children from whole organic milk to Cravendale, they seem to be drinking more of it.

It costs a fraction more at £1.85 (Waitrose) for 4 pints, but I genually don;t throw anything away any more as it last such a long time in the fridge.

A great advert to beat the credit crunch I think, why waste a drop! Plus great tasting fresh milk to boot!

Summary: A no brainer, great milk that lasts longer and tastes great!
