Advantages: Lovely taste and stays fresh for twice as long compared to other brands.
Disadvantages: A bit expensive but the quality is worth it.
I have been drinking Cravendale Milk for almost 2 years now. Despite the eye-catching adverts and top-notch pricing, there are a couple of reasons why I keep coming back for a glass of pure Cravendale milk. Usually I'm they type who goes 'milk is milk, why should one tastes better than the other'; then I saw Cravendale was on offer for two 2 litres bottles for £3.00 at Tesco and thought I should give this a go. Guess what, I was hooked to the taste of Cravendale.
Cravendale milk comes in standard shaped cartons like any other but the plastic material is opaque/white and not cloudy clear. They also comes in 2 litres, 1 litre and 500 ml sized cartons to suit your needs. As usual, the 2 litre bottles are economical and are the 'best-buy' product even for people living alone (like me).
As usual, there are 3 different varieties to choose from: full-fat/whole milk, semi-skimmed and skimmed milk. I usually go for the middle ground and always buy the semi-skimmed as the fat content is low yet does not jeopardise the creaminess of the milk (it's only 1.7 grams fat and 49 kcals per 100 ml of semi-skimmed milk).
What makes Cravendale so different from other milk? It is not only pasteurised for health and safety, it is also triple-filtered to further purify the milk and get rid of bacteria so the milk stays fresh for longer. With the safety lid on, the milk stays fresh for 21 days and 7-day freshness is guaranteed after the lid has been opened. From my experience, the milk stays fresh for at least 10 days and even more after the lid was opened.
As for the taste, it tastes so creamy and smooth especially if you're drinking it on its own. Also with cereals, after you've tasted it with Cravendale, you wouldn't want to go back to other brands of milk. The reason being is that Cravendale milk is also homogenised for even distribution of fat globules to give a smoother consistency of the milk.
One possible drawback would be the high-end pricing compared to other brands. On average, a 2 litre bottle would cost around £1.80. However, supermarkets would give offers such as 2 for £ 3.00 occasionally which makes it easier on the purse strings. Even with the price, I would say the superior taste is worth the pennies. Personally, I would happily pay 30 pences more for a wonderful tasting milk and my daily calcium intake.
Summary: A glass of milk that is full of flavours.
