Advantages: Not as fattening as some snacks, filling, very chocolately
Disadvantages: 500 ml is quite a lot in one go
I recently fancied something other to drink at work, so I popped in to the petrol station next door and found myself staring at the usual stuff, water, fizzy drinks, juice drinks and thought I just fancy something different. That's when I saw the Friji chocolate milkshake staring back at me from the shelf.
I have never heard of this brand before and think they mainly sell in garages etc rather than multi-packs in supermarkets. I have not seen them in Asda but have never really looked specifically. In the garage next to me it cost £1.40.
The bottle is white with brown (supposed to be) chocolate splodges on it, I suppose the way a cow does. It contains a mammoth 500 ml (approx) and tastes great. I tend to drink half one and have the other half the next, as there is a lot to it. It tastes thick and very chocolately, I am not overly keen on milk and it doesn't taste too milky.
It needs a good shake before you drink it, otherwise it can be a bit lumpy, but still yummy.
There are no artificial flavours and it is marketed as the tastiest ever (I agree - if I find something that trumps it I will update you all).
The ingredients are:
Skimmed milk (68%)
Whole milk (22%)
Sugar
Fat reduced cocoa powder
Buttermilk powder
Modified maize starch
Stabilisers
It says it has less than 1.5% fat in it, I don't know if this is saturated or not as it doesn't say, which is not good for those of us calorie counting. It is also Gluten free and contains milk (obviously) and Vitamin B12.
I really like this drink and would recommend it, it really fills you up and stops you snacking, I know it's not the best substitute but it's a yummy one.
Summary: Yummy - try it yourself!

- 20/05/09 They sell these in most supermarkets :) In Morrisons they're next to the milk, with the pro biotic drinks and other milkshakes. |
