I was looking forward to trying a coffee ale, I've tried chocolate and have found that a little bitter. Coffee and ale? Hmmm... Love at first sip. Smooth, velvety and rich. A soft combination of roasted and toasted flavours gliding over the palatte. Cafe Nero in a glass perhaps, my co-taster slipped a Tia Maria into his and was blown away. I will admit I am a huge fan of stouts this genuine and this unpretentious espresso flavoured stout takes some beating. I found it a pleasant ale, not too bitter and a little biscuity. As I am still working through reviews of the beers I sampled at Chesterfield Beer Festival in February this year I thought I should have a bit of a coffee break ~ a coffee break involving beer though. I love trying beers I haven’t had before and I am partial to the odd pint of stout.
