      Terrible stuff

I am a huge fan of fizzy drinks but I have to say that one of the worst ones I have tried lately has been a can of coke with lemon as an addition. It was truly a hideous combination and I didn't like it at all. I paid 55p for the can in the garage when I filled up the car with petrol. It was in the fridge, it looked nice, it looked a bit 'different'. I had a raging thirst and I thought I'd give it a go.

The taste was weird and I mean weird in a terrible way. It left an odd sort of aftertaste on my tongue that I just couldn't get rid of. I had just been sucking some aniseed balls in the car so I thought that possibly it was that to blame. So, I put the can in the can holder inside the car and drove off. About fifteen minutes later, once the taste of the aniseed balls had worn off, I tasted the pop again and it tasted just as bad. God, it was awful!!

It tasted like someone had added a cupful of that artificial lemon flavoured stuff you put on pancakes, for a joke. It tasted acidic and chemically and manufactured and it wasn't by any stretch of the imagination pleasant or thirst quenching or refreshing. I felt like a needed a full glass of water to get rid of the rancid taste it left in my mouth.

I threw the can out when I got back. The only good thing about tit was that it was cold and it was fizzy - other than that, no thanks. I am giving this a very wide berth and I definitely do NOT recommend it.

        My hopes were high!

I am one of those people that can't really tell the difference between diet and full fat coke, as long as it is a quality brand, E.G. real coca cola, then it doesn't make too much difference. Therefore for health reasons I always buy diet coke. I also always buy coke in cans, as if I buy a whole bottle it tends to be flat before I drink it. I only really drink a can per week.

Recently when I was doing my tescos shopping I spotted cans if diet coke with lemon in. I love adding a bit of lemon or lime to my glass of coke, so I thought I would try these and see if it saved me the extra work and buying the piece of fruit too! The price was approx £2.80 for 6 cans, although since then I have seen them on special offer, so maybe they are one of those things you need to stock up on whilst on special offer, as they have a relatively long expiry date unopened.

The cans are pale in colour, light silver and yellow, with the famous coke label. They are really similarly packaged to normal diet coke except they have a big yellow slice of lemon on the front to advertise the difference. Even before opening the can I just knew they would be refreshing.

        The can is 330ml.

I have to say that opening and tasting was quite disappointing, but it may well be because I had high hopes! I love the taste of coke and fresh lemon added, but it really wasn't the same having it pre made. The taste was much weaker, whereas I like a real evident taste. It was also quite a manufactured taste, rather than a fresh taste. It tasted more like if lemon squash or preserved juice had been added to it rather than a nice fat slice of fresh lemon was floating on the edge. I guess this is obvious from a canned drink, but I really had high hopes it would save me that extra step in making my drinks up.

I think I am just lazy!!

Another good addition to the coke family

This version of diet coke has been out for quite some time now and I have only just tried it. Another addition to the coke family, I have to say I think thats its a great idea.

This product is available in a 330ml can which will cost you some where in the region of 50 - 60p. You can also buy the 500ml bottle which will cost you about £1 and also in 1.5 - 2 litre which will cost considerably more. I have always prefered tinned coke though as I really do think that it holds the taste better even though you tend to lose the fizziness a lot faster.

I was given a free can of this coke at a recent running event, it was in the goody bag at the end so I got stuck in as soon as I finished my run. My first impression is that you do get the normal coke taste but with a twinge of something, initially I ddn't think it tasted much like lemon but the longer the can had been open the lemon taste started to come through.

The taste is pretty spot on, it basically taste like a coke you would get at a pub with the lemon in but has gone slightly flat, that is the best way to describe it.

I would definately advise on trying this product as I have found it to be quite pleasant tasting, I will hopefully be buying the drink again.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Diet Coke with ice and lemon is much nicer.

Diet coke with lemon supposedly offers the great Diet Coke taste, with a hint of lemon. When I first saw this product on the market I thought it was ingenious - people often drink lemon with coke - so why not cut out the middle man (...or the lemon in this case).

          ******************Packaging and Availability ****************

Diet coke with lemon has the usual grey Diet Coke label with a hint of yellow.

This drink seems to have faded into the background since the 'Zero' range was launched. However some newsagents still stock it and I have seen it available on the continent.

This product is available in a 330ml aluminium can (which costs around 50p).You can also buy this product in a 500ml bottle (for between £1.00 and £1.20), or a two litre bottle (which is around £1.65).

          *********************** Taste test **********************

I had high hopes for this product but I was a little disappointed when I eventually tasted it. It was similar to Diet Coke - but it had an artificial lemon aftertaste. Although in some ways it was nice to taste something sweet (without the added sugar consumption) I didn't think the taste was quite right.

It was drinkable - it had plenty of fizz and it was refreshing. However it didn't taste half as nice as original Diet Coke over ice with a real lemon.

          *********************** Overall ************************

I can understand the concept behind this version of Diet Coke - however it didn't quite cut it as far as I'm concerned. Maybe I my expectations were too high? But I'm not a massive fan - three out of five stars.

          Disadvantages

This should be called diet froth with sacharin instead of diet Coke with lemon.

Previous readers of my reviews may well know that I enjoy a fizzy drink or two and that I like to try new things so when I saw diet Coke with lemon (a while back now) I had to go ahead and try it.

I don't dislike diet drinks but I do way prefer a full sugar version but there was just something that made me think this would be a very refreshing drink and I do enjoy a slice of lemon in a vodka and coke so it was a taste I thought I would like very much but It wasn't how I had imagined it to be at all.

Diet fizzy drinks are well known for being very frothy when not ice cold but even ice cold this one was pretty much just a tin of froth, it went into the mouth very frothy and then all fizz died almost instantly and as for the taste well it was not great.

The main taste here was neither Coca Cola nor lemon but more a sickly taste of saccharin or whatever sweeteners were used to sweeten the drink, I like Coke and I like lemon but this tasted of neither and I certainly didn't like this.

This drink is available in tins and bottles alike and can pretty much be bought in of the sizes that normal Coke is available in and at the same price too but take my advice and steer well clear of it and stick to what you know and like.

          Easy - just add ice!

When coke with lemon came out i was curious as to what it would taste like but for me its amazing. I always think that coke tastes better in a bar or restaurant, and i have come to the conclusion its the ice and lemon, however i feel that with an actual piece of lemon in my drink it starts to disintegrate so you always find bits of lemon or pip floating around your drink. it doesn't help that while on some medication i was allergic to lemon and would give me terrible belly ache, so when this product came out i was ecstatic as all i have to do is add ice to my drink without any hassle of cutting a lemon, pips or bits in my drink. However people i know don't like this product as there isn't a real lemon in it, and they say it doesn't taste the same. but for me its great!

A diet Pepsi and a slice of lemon is a much better choice!

I have written before on this site proffessing my love for Pepsi over Coke but when I first saw diet Coke with lemon, I was sure it was something I would enjoy.

I have long since enjoyed a vodka and Coke with a slice of lemon so why not?

Well I will tell you why not, the diet Coke with lemon has a very artificial lemon taste and it is far too sweet due to all the sweetners used to replace the sugar. The lemon taste is like the glass you drink it out of has been washed with lemon washing up liquid and not rinsed properly.

That description of the taste may seem and may even be a bit harsh but it certainly is nowhere near the taste you get from having a slice of lemon in the glass.

Away from the taste you have exactly what you would expect from a diet drink, less than one calorie per 500ml bottle and no fat, it can be purchased in 500ml bottles, two litre bottles or even in cans and costs pretty much the same as all other brand name soft drinks.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

You may like it, you may not

Coca-Cola is one of the global market leaders when it comes to drinks manufacturers, as well as Coke, they also produce the likes of Fanta, Sprite and many more. I recently decided to try their Diet Coke with Lemon flavour which has been around for a while now but I've haven't had the opportunity to try it until now.

When you first taste this drink, it just takes like your normal can of Diet Coke but then you get the aftertaste where the tangy taste of the lemon hits you. I love having a slice of lemon in my glass of Coke generally as it gives a nice edge to it, however this fusion doesn't have quite the same feel to it unfotunately. I think the lemon flavouring is abit too strong and rather than being a background taste, it takes over completly and for a minute you almost forget that you're actually drinking a type of Diet Coke.

Personally I think it's a matter of preference, I can see some people loving this drink but for me it needs to be a bit less lemony. Being Diet Coke, it's almost sugar free which is a great positive reason to try this.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            More substitution than anything?

The Diet Coke with Lemon range isn't the easiest to find lying around, but it is a rather pleasant mix, especially for a brand of drinks (diet) that are often infamous for being lacking in taste. This is a sugar-free version of the Coke we all know and love, and surprisingly it actually tastes quite nice - the Lemon tinge somewhat disguises any taste in difference anyway, although I'm a tad skeptical about the assorted sweeteners used instead of sugar, and whether they're really much healthier than just using sugar?

Not to mention, despite the Diet label, it's still got a bunch of caffeine in it, which isn't especially good for dieters, I imagine. I'm not particularly bothered myself as I'm not dieting, but in reviewing a product as fit for its purpose, I find their intentions questionable if it's still loaded with so many other bad ingrediants.

That aside, the product actually tastes rather nice indeed - I've had Coke with Lemon in pubs quite regularly, and this diet, no less CANNED version is actually quite similar in taste. The lemon adds quite harmoniously to the drink a certain kick, and livens up a diet drink that can sometimes just not really live up to the greatness of the original drink.

Despite being a little known drink, they are always on offer whenever I see them in a supermarket. It makes it worth it if you're a dieter because whilst they're only about 50p each, a 20-pack multipack is as little as £5, which is an absurdly cheap price for a "specialist" variety of drink. In fact, I rarely see regular coke this cheap! You dieters are getting it so good!

In conclusion, for dieters, it may cut down on your sugar count, but I'm a little unconvinced how much better it is for you overall.

              just an okey product

I am a very big fan of coke but for some reason this diet coke lemon is not really my favourite coke ,this could be firstly because it does not have any sugars they have been substituted with sweetners and i am a sugar lover and not a very big fan of sweetners. The other reason why I do not like this drink is because of the lemon ,the taste of the lemon is so overpowering and i am not a big fan of lemons, you can taste the lemon juice and the smell of the lemon which puts me off really .Apart from that lemons are good for your health and they make this drink really fruity and tastes quite refreshing .for those that love fizzy lemon drink this one would really be a good one to have sepecilly on a hot day with plenty of ice it would be lovely but unfortunately i do no like it much

              Disadvantages

              A refreshing version of Coke

Having written about my least favourite coke version I thought I would write about my favourite. The only problem is that I don't think you can get it any more - I keep looking in the shops but I have had no luck in locating a bottle for about 18 months now.

Coke and lemon I love the contrast. Whenever given the option in a pub I always have lemon put into my coke I love the way that the acidic taste of the lemon combines with the sweetness of the Coke.

This version allowed me to get that taste without having to put any lemon in the glass - this was very useful when buying the small bottle because I'm not that good at pushing slices of lemon in the top of the bottle - I know they do it with beer but its just not the same and I don't tend to keep a constant supply of lemon on my person!

I'm sure there are lots of people who don't like this product for all the same reasons as I love it, but in my opinion it was a great addition to the range and I felt it was a little more refreshing than the standard Diet Coke.

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

                Not for me

Diet coke, or "slightly dull coke, that is mainly watered down" was never really my favourite drink, it still isn't but now after examining the calories of the full fat coke given the choice I guess I'd choose the diet option.
Already disappointed with the taste of the normal diet coke (which is sooo not the same taste as the real stuff) I was pleased to see that coca-cola had brought out Diet Coke Lemon option.

                "Aha!"
                I thought.
"Could this be the day that diet coke acquires a taste?"

But I was only to be fooled again, as when tasting the Diet Coke with supposed lemon, all I could taste was the watery disappointment of the original fat-fighter friendly dribble.

Gulping my can from top to bottom I failed to taste the "lemonyness" of it.

                Tip type thing:
However, like most disappointing bland drinks, it does quite well as a low fat mixer drink.

                But...
If you're going to drink alcohol, which is brimming with calories; you might as well indulge in the nicer, full fat cola.

So generally I think that Coca-Cola have falled short in the taste test again.

                Although...
The can is especially summery and aesthetically pleasing.

                But...
If you want a nice lemony drink that's summery and aesthetically pleasing you may as well stick to 7up or Sprite.

They probably should have left it at cherry cola - which incidentally, is very nice!

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

I did not like this at all.

I used to drink diet coke quite a lot when I went out. Since being pregnant I have started to drink ordinary coke, as it contains less rubbish that is harmful to the baby. Although it is sweeter, I won't go back to diet coke, simply because I do not want to fill my body with more chemicals than absolutely necessary. During my diet coke days, I tried the diet coke with lemon drink. I have to say it did nothing for me.

The lemon flavour in this drink was too chemically. I expected it to taste like a glass of diet coke with a slice of lemon but it really didn't. The lemon was almost stronger than the coke. I did not like it at all when I tried it. Now that I am used to full fat coke again, I think the lemon in this might actually override some of the false sweetness in diet coke and so might be slightly preferable. However, you cannot beat full fat coke.

If you are on a diet, you really shouldn't drink fizzy drinks. Even the diet ones put on weight - just ask your doctor. If you need some fizz and cannot cope with the flavour of coke, go for full fat. It might be more calories but at least there is natural sugar in there and not a whole host of chemicals. This lemon diet coke just adds to the chemically taste. YUCK!

The price is about 50p to 60p. It is the same as the other coke varieties.

                    Disadvantages

                    Decent product

My previous review was written on caffeine free diet coke, adn if you have read it, you'll know my reasons for trying it and those for not really liking it. Coca Cola are known for their experiments in drinks flavours in their attempts to corner every part of the soft drinks market. The magic of the company is that they offer so many different products. Some are a hit, and some are definitely a miss.

Diet coke is not a favourite of mine, so trying the diet coke with lemon was never realloy going to please me. Or so I thought. The diet coke taste is one fo saccharin, the sugar supplement to give drinkers a bit of a sugary taste whilst restricting the sugar from their diet. The result is rather bland, if I'm honest. Adding lemon to the combination gives an interesting result. The lack of sugar makes a good basis for a sharp lemony taste to come through, and it actually does improve the drink. The fruitiness comes through strongly with the aftertaste, and although I would never choose this over regular coke, it does improve the diet coke a bit.

If you see a can of diet coke with lemon in the shop, give it a go. It's worth trying just because the combination of flavours is quite interesting and actually refreshing. The drink is definitely not one of my favourites, but on a hot summer's day (not that there are many of them!), there are a lot of worse drinks to refresh you.

I have always been a fan of coke, and ive always thought the diet coke was abit naf tasting. It is very low in calories, unlike like the normal coke but it has been linked to several problems because of the ingredients that are used as a substitute to the sugar. So for me its one i avoid.

I also find it tastes flat, and if your gonna enjoy coke, i think you may as well have the good stuff.

Now the diet coke is bad enough, but the diet coke with lemon is pretty weird tasting. I love lemon in my coke, but as an added flavour, it was weird, and very off tasting.

Personally i didnt enjoy this drink, and would recommend it.

The packaging is ok, and it was easy to spot on the shelves, and the price was roughly about the same as the other cans, but taste wise i wouldnt bother.

If you have to get diet coke, just get orginal flavour, and add a real lemon, because i found this quite sickly and unenjoyable.
