Advantages: Wakes me up
Disadvantages: Contains aspartame and makes me burp
I am an avid water drinker and usually get through around ten pints a day. I love the fact that my body is constantly being cleansed and detoxed. One of the downfalls of drinking so much water, besides the fact that I'm on the loo a lot, is that I don't get a caffeine fix to revive me throughout the day. I'm quite a tired person anyway and this isn't helped by running around after the three men in my life.
The other night we were going out and Iknew I'd be ready for bed by 8pm if I didn't have a caffeine hit. I didn't want to get that from chocolate because I am trying to diet so my hubby handed me one of his Diet cokes which he swears by!
The can had been in the fridge so it was ice cold which put me off straight away. I find really cold products hurt my teeth. I pulled at the tab and it made a very satisfying 'Psst' noise. Thankfully it didn't spill out and end up all over the floor and down my front. I took a sip of the dark brown substance and my mouth was met with a sweet and bubbly liquid. When I swallowed I could feel it bubbling away as it went on its journey down into my tummy. Even when it was in my stomach I was aware of it bubbling. Almost as soon as I had finished drinking a few mouthfuls I could feel that I needed to burp. Not very lady like I know but I knew I'd be in pain if I didn't let it out. Nearly every sip after this point was followed by a few burps and pains in my tummy. I actually couldn't finish the can and passed it back to my hubby so he could drink the rest.
I did enjoy the actual taste of the coke but I think I would prefer it if it was flat. I couldn't stand the feeling of the bubbles playing havoc with my inners. I really hated how gassy it was and didn't enjoy letting out all of those loud burps. I was glad I was in my own home or I would have had to hold them in and be in pain for the rest of the day.
I think this is a great drink if you are trying to diet because the sweetness of the liquid satisfies a sweet tooth without giving you all the calories of a proper sweet treat. This product does contain aspartame which I know some people like to steer clear off so this may put some of you off.
You can buy these cokes in just about every form you can imagine; bottles, cans and multi-packs. They are quite often on offer so we usually pick a load up for my hubby when the offer is good. At the moment Asda are doing two 8 packs of cans for £5.
My hubby prefers the cans because he says that the bottles don't tend to stay fizzy for very long so bare that in mind before you buy. I think if I was a lover of this stuff then I'd buy the bottles because of that fact.
Over all I didn't particularly enjoy my experience of Diet Coke but millions of people obviously do as it is a best seller.
Summary: Too gassy for me.
