Advantages: Tastes delicious, best of it's kind
Disadvantages: A bit addictive and not good for you!
I've been a fan of the interesting combination of caramel coloured, vegetable extract drink that is Coca Cola for quite some time now. Well, I say wondeful but it's not exactly the healthiest drink in the world. I just love the taste though - I don't actually know what it is and I'm not all that sure on what rubbish they put in it but whatever combination of ingredients they put together - it certainly works for me!
I'm glad that there is a diet version because it does make feel a bit better about drinking it. I also like the shiny silver label which is very helpful when you are grabbing a diet coke out of one of those tightly packed fridges in news agents. It sets it apart from normal Coca Cola which is red because I find with a lot of diet or slighty modified products, it's easy to confuse them if they have similar labels.
As with almost every soft drink, it definitely tastes better served chilled. A slice of lemon or lime (or both!) also adds a bit of a sharp zing which I love! They do of course do the lemon and lime Cokes but they don't really give you that zing that the real thing does. There's also cherry Coke which I actually quite like. If you haven't tried it, it tastes a lot like Dr Pepper but a lot nicer because it doesn't have that weird after taste!
To be honest I think that I drink a bit more Diet Coke than I should! I know that it's not healthy and I'm always hearing stories about it, including the rumour that it can 'give you brain tumours' and the one that it's 'less healthy than normal Coca Cola'. To be honest I'm not sure what to believe but my advice would be to just have it occasionally because it can't really do that much harm can it?!
There's always that question, Is it better than Pepsi? Well, personally I think that it is because I find Pepsi a bit too sweet. I also think that none of the copies that I've tried (supermarket own brands etc.) quite live up to it. It still doesn't quite live up to the original Coca Cola, but it comes very close.
You can get it in different sizes, like the 2 litre bottles, 250ml bottles etc and of course cans and those cute little mini cans! Sometimes they do limited edtion ones as well for example a while ago they brought out little round, football shaped bottles which I think might have been for the World Cup but I'm not too sure!
In terms of pricing, they always vary depending on what shop you go to but generally they tend to be reasonable. In vending machines they are usually about £1.20, which isn't too bad considering most of the other not-as-nice drinks are usually the same price!
So Overall, I am quite a big fan of Coke: The pricing is reasonable, it tastes very yummy and is the best version of the drink - But I really need to stop drinking so much of it!
Hope this is helpful, LouLou_xx

Summary: A tasty soft drink.. with some strange ingredients which oddly seem to work!

- 08/10/09 You will be healthier drinking ordinary coke rather than the diet stuff.
Good review though. |
