Advantages: Smooth vodka which is reasonably priced

I recently received an ample 1 litre bottle of Diplomat vodka from a friend in St. Petersburg and whilst it is hard to review vodkas - here goes!

Diplomat is a Russian vodka which was initially created in 1721 as a gift for the King of Spain, I'm not sure how it is considered in Russia (to be fair..anything that isn't in a plastic bottle is classy lol) but a 70cl bottle retails for about £17 in the UK.

Sold in a bottle with a blue label and the words Diplomat across, there's a nice little emblem featuring swords and the date which the vodka was established (1721). To the bottom of the label is a list of medals for the awards it has won, many of which are recent (Grand Vodka Masters 2007 and a more random award that I've not heard of in 2008)


Diplomat is a good honest vodka and is miles better than your generic rubbish like Smirnoff. It has a smooth taste with a final kick to it. I suppose I should point out that I'm reviewing the Premium version and haven't tried Strong (50%) or Special (different refining process). I would recommend the brand, it's clean, goes down nicely and leaves you completely without a hangover (unless of course you drink other alcoholic drinks along with it as well - wine being the worst in my opinion)
