Dog in the Fog is a Polish beer owned by Kompania Piwowarska and brewed in the Tyskie brewery in Tychy. In these days of globalised alcohol, Poles are keen to dabble with foreign brands of beer either to quench curiosity or in a consciencous effort to try and look trendy.

Dog in the Fog has many a person fooled, pretending to be an English brown ale, it gets little praise from me tastewise but full marks for clever marketing, the English title, catchy name and motto "Dog in the Fog never gets lost" and the stylish bottle succesfully oozes tradition (despite being a relatively new beer), with it's cute silhouette of a dog, it also appeals to puppy lovers and is therefore a bit of a hit with the girls. Tastewise, it's smooth and very sweet, personally I find it disgusting but it has gained fans amongst those who don't really like strong lager.

I find it a shame that such a stylish beer should be such a light-weight when it comes to the taste stakes. It is by no means an English style ale either, it's just relatively low on carbonation and a clever marketing scam. It pours a golden colour with a small white head and the minute you open the bottle, you get a sweet smell like in the sweet aisle of Woolworths. The main benefit of this beer is that despite it's reasonable 5.1% Alcohol percentage, it's light on the head and very unlikely to give you a hangover.
