Advantages: fresh, tangy juice, one of your 5 a day

Disadvantages: no labelling on the bottle to state whether it is smooth juice or contains bits

In the morning I like to have a nice glass of orange juice to wake me up, I do not drink tea or coffee and although orange juice does not contain any caffeine I find the nice fresh taste is enough to give me the get up and go I need to face the day. Now I do generally buy orange juice from concentrate as I find fresh orange juice rather expensive but when recently shopping in Asda I spotted bottles of the fresh Don Simon Clementine juice on offer for just £0.50 for a 750ml bottle so brought a couple of bottles to try.

This clementine juice as I stated is a fresh juice made from 100% pure squeezed Spanish clementine juice. It states on the bottle that it takes just 24 hours for the clementine's to go from tree to squeezed. Each 150ml serving amounts to one portion of your 5 a day fruit and vegetables and the juice is also rich in Vitamin C.

As the juice is fresh you need to store it in the fridge as soon as you get it home and consume within 3 days of opening. I was also surprised to see that this juice is suitable for freezing and it suggests to freeze it on the day of purchase and to use within a month. I have never tried to freeze juice but if I spot this one on a good special offer again I may give it a try.

The juice itself does not state on the front of the bottle whether it contains bits or is a smooth variety which I was a little surprised by. Although I do not mind either way my husband hates juice with bits and would refuse to drink it if it did contain them. It turned out that the juice is of the smooth nature, it is also quite a thick juice which I like too as some juices can be a little watery. But I would recommend giving the juice a shake each time you use it as when sat in the fridge it can separate a little.

The juice is a lovely bright orange colour and smells fresh and fruity when you pour it into the glass. I had never come across Clementine juice before, I expected it to taste pretty much the same as orange juice. In fact the juice does taste very similar to orange juice but in my opinion a little bit tangier. You seem to get a fairly sweet taste first then a sharper zestier after taste. I found this very nice as it was like drinking juice you had just squeezed yourself as it tastes so natural and fresh and the zesty after taste really does wake me up first thing in the morning.

Overall I have been very impressed with this juice, it is extremely fresh and has a tangy kick to it. Certainly one that will be working its way into my trolley again!

Summary: a great fresh juice
