      best juice in town

What on earth is Don Simon?

He's not a film star or footballer as my mother thought but actually is a brand of fresh juices, not from concentrate that are sold in ASDA. The brand began in 1998 and with thanks to a catchy advertising campaign, became Spain's no.1 brand within 12 months.

      How much does it cost?

A 1 litre carton cost 99p or you can buy 2 for £1.50. 75p a carton, what a bargain!!! They are certainly a cheaper price but not a cheaper quality and are a good rival to top brands such as Tropicana.

      Packaging

This product comes in a long cardboard carton with a plastic screw top. Both can be recycled and the carton design means it can be stored on its side or upright. It has images of green apples and a simple yellow 'Pressed Apple Juice, Don Simon, Premium' logo. It states 9 apples are used and the apples are 100% pure squeezed just picked from the tree. At the top of the bottle there is a smart chart showing that each 150ml serving is 1 of your 5 fruit or veg portions per day. There is a sell by date on the top too.

To the side of the bottle it states that it is Spains no.1 juice brand and that it is not made from concentrate and why. Basically a juice made from concentrate is where the pure juice is diluted byu adding it to water. This process makes the product cheaper in price and poorer quality, something which Don Simon does not agree with. He only uses not from concentrate juice, guaranteed.

The other side had some nutritional values. Each 100ml contains 46 calories, 0.3g protein, 10.8g carbs, 0g fat. It also gives the Spanish address of the company, email and British contact number for customer enquiries.

      Taste Test

I love pressed apple juice and prefer it to pure. It had a nice fresh creamy greeny white colour and smelt delicious. The juice itself was very tasty and fresh. It tasted the same, if not better than Tropicana or Copella or any top high priced brand. The juice quenched my thirst perfectly and tastes lovely. The texture was not watery at all but just as it should be. It is sweet but too too sweet.

      Opinion

I was used to buying Tropicana as it was a trusted brand and always high quality. It is the most expensive in my local store but Pure Juice is a product I cannot live without, as I think a glass in the morning is both refreshing and good start to the day. The price is amazing and such good value. One bottle can last me a week depending on how many glasses I have. I have bought this product ever since and will continue to do so.

One tip is to find this product next to the diluted and cordials as ASDA also sell plastic litre bottles of the same product for a higher price in the chilled section so make sure you find the cartons as they are a steal at 75p each when you buy 2 !
