Good drink if you like tropical flavours

What on earth is Don Simon? He's not a film star or footballer as my mother thought but actually is a brand of fresh juices, not from concentrate that are sold in ASDA. The brand began in 1998 and with thanks to a catchy advertising campaign, became Spain's no.1 brand within 12 months.

A 1 litre carton only cost 99p or you can buy 2 for £1.50. 75p a carton, what a bargain!!! They are certainly a cheaper price but not a cheaper quality and are a good rival to top brands such as Tropicana. You can also get many flavours such as pure orange (with or without juicy bits), pressed apple, various mixed flavours and citrus cooler.

This product comes in a long cardboard carton with a plastic screw top. Both can be recycled and the carton design means it can be stored on its side or upright. It has images of tropical fruit and a basic logo. There is a sell by date on the top too.

To the side of the bottle it states that it is Spains no.1 juice brand and that it is not made from concentrate and why. Basically a juice made from concentrate is where the pure juice is diluted by adding it to water. This process makes the product cheaper in price and poorer quality, something which Don Simon does not agree with. He only uses not from concentrate juice, guaranteed. The other side had some nutritional values.

I tend to buy single fruit juices such as apple or orange I don't tend to buy mixed flavours, but was given the Tropical version of my favourite fruit juice brand one day to try. It had a very tropical smell, one of many different fruits but it was hard to identify one in particular. It smelt quite sweet and I think mainly of Pineapples and oranges. The texture was very smooth, not at all watery with no bits in and was very pleasant to drink. Although it was fresh and juicy as it is made from concentrate and not watered down in any way I just don't really like tropical drinks, it's just my personal preference. I thought the price was amazing and the quality is top notch but I would prefer their single flavour fruit juices. This tastes better chilled.

One tip is to find this product next to the diluted and cordials as ASDA also sell plastic litre bottles of the same product for a higher price in the chilled section so make sure you find the cartons as they are a steal at 75p each when you buy 2 !
