Advantages: A STRONG COFFEE WITHOUT THE BITTER AFTER TASTE

Disadvantages: WILL GO OFF IF NOT KEPT SEALED

Douwe Egberts Real Coffee

DESCRIPTION

Douwe Egberts Coffee is a medium coffee strength, which is ground and is suitable for coffee machines or plunge coffee pots. You will notice in the supermarkets there is a red or green packet. The red has caffeine and the green hasn't.

TASTE

This coffee has a smooth taste and is fairly strong, depending on how much you put into the pot. I have just switched to a nespresso machine, but would recommend this brand to anyone who enjoys a rich cup of coffee, without being bitter, as the danger of 'strong coffee' is a bitter aftertaste.

This coffee is best served with a little cream; milk is okay as long as it is full fat, as skimmed milk with not alter the colour of the coffee much, unless you have hot milk, and use half and half. If you have a milk frother then this coffee will make a tasty cappuccino.

VALUE FOR MONEY

I bought a pack 250gm for about £1.81, which lasts about 20 filters. Compared to instant coffee I guess you will get more out of a jar, but if you are a definite 'coffee snob', like me, you will prefer a filter coffee. I never buy instant at home now, and don't think once you have been converted to this coffee you will go back to the instant.

CONCLUSION

Coffee lovers all need a 'FIX'. This coffee reaches the spot and will awaken your senses, whether it is first thing in the morning or 'elevenses'. Try not to participate after 7pm, as too much caffeine will keep you awake. Douwe Egbert makers assure us that their coffee is freshly roasted and then ground to perfection and they are one of the oldest coffee maker specialists (so I have read). The best thing about opening the coffee is the smell busts out at you, and I like the fact the pack is tightly sealed.
My advice once opened, is to keep in the fridge to retain the freshness. If the pack has no self-seal, roll the top and attach a peg that works for me.

Enjoy a nice cup of coffee with Douwe Egberts freshly ground 'real' coffee.

Summary: GIVE IT A GO AND YOU BE THE JUDGE!
