Advantages: No sugar, low in calories

Disadvantages: Taste and it being flat!

I absolutely love Dr Pepper! I always have done so when this came through my front door last week (kind courtesy of my Mother getting me some pop each week as I live at home lol) I was right pleased to see it! I've never seen the point in consuming high calorie/high sugar drinks if I can help it and this is a guilt free way of getting the drink I like!

Available in many sizes mine is a 2 litre bottle which set my Mum back £1.35 in our local Sainsbury's.

The Packaging....

All pretty similar whether it's in a 330ml can, 500ml bottle or like what I have in front of me which is the largest bottle of this I've seen on the market being a 2 Litre size bottle. Of course though the can is aluminium though and not plastic lol. So this bottle is clear plastic with a dark red label around it's middle and has a black screw/on off lid to the top it and on that in white writing I'm told it's 'Zero' and to open it by hand. On the label in white writing I'm told it's Dr Pepper Zero with the great Dr Pepper taste but with zero sugar and there is an at a glance nutritional chart on there. On the back of the label size is stated, ingredients and nutritional information is given, the best before date is clearly stamped on, contact details for Coca Cola (the manufacturer of Dr Pepper Products) are listed, the recycle symbol is displayed and finally there is a bar-code on there. Nice enough bottle and I do like being able to see the drink through it. i point this out because with a lot of drinks recently I've had (energy drinks) I can't see them!

The Drink....

A dark caramel brown in colour and sparkling the first time you open it. However after a day or so of opening this I've found even stored correctly my bottle has gone fairly flat. Also with this once poured within a few minutes again it goes flat as a pancake! I don't like that about it!

For me this is a diet version (which it is of course) of Dr Pepper. It's watery, not all that bubbly and tastes full of sweeteners hence it's not very refreshing due to the after-taste of it that coats the mouth and tongue. It tastes alot like Dr Pepper being a cherry sort of fruity drink but as soon as it's swallowed the taste kind of vanishes leaving the mouth tasting of sweeteners more than anything else.

Verdict....

If you like Dr Pepper this really is a poor relation in every respect. It's far too flat and a bit like drinking a juice rather than a carbonated soft drink and I don't like the fact that it isn't as rich in flavour as the original I'm afraid! Not refreshing and a thumbs down from me I'm shocked to say! I thought I'd love it! lol.
