Advantages: Refreshing fruity taste!

Disadvantages: Acidic preservatives.

Dr Pepper Zero...what can I say that would ever sum up the heavenly flavour that is Dr P!!

When Dr P first came out over her in GB, I remember the adverts and everyone saying ''eeerrrr...a drink that tastes like pepper!'' These people had obviously never tried it and had already made assumptions. If they had tried some they would soon learn that it does no taste peppery at all, on the contrary the flavour is sweet and fruity.

More recently they have released Dr Pepper Zero in conjunction with all the Coke Zero's etc. The Zero version; has all the same amazing flavour as the original with none of the sugar. I have been drink the zero version for a good few years and find now when I go back to the original that the flavour is overpowered by the ridiculous amount of sugar they add to the drink. Although the zero version has no sugar it still remains sweet to taste without being over the top like a lot of carbonated drinks.

I believe Dr P is like Marmite...you either hate it or LOVE it! The flavour is too complex that it is almost impossible to describe succinctly, I shall try my best. It has a smooth, fruity taste that is light and refreshing. The description on the bottle for Dr P Zero is; 'sparkling low calorie fruit flavour soft drink'. I think it is one of the fizziest drinks you can buy and tastes great both fizzy and flat. It is huge over in America and they even have imitations of it like supermarkets own brand Coke. You may have also seen Tom Hanks down a few bottles in Forest Gump, when he goes to meet the president after he's been to Vietnam.

It upsets me when in small shops they only sell the original version, like Boots I can never get it with my meal deal. I wish clubs would start selling it because I would much prefer to buy this on the nights when it's my turn to drive. Consequently it doesn't go well with Vodka so don't mix it...you've been warned! I expect you could find some alcohol that it would go well with considering its fruity flavour and if you are that way inclined. But I personally believe the flavour is great as it is and to use it as a mixer would be to ruin its genius.

The nutritional information for a 500ml bottle of Dr Pepper Zero is; 3kcal of energy of which 0% is sugar and fat. It also contains a trace of salt, less than 1% of an adult's daily allowance and caffeine. It retails in Tesco for £1.56 for a 2litre bottle and is currently on offer 2 for £2.50. So don't be shy and try some if you already haven't. Trust me, if you like it you will not look back.

In the infamous words of the brand 'What's the worst that could happen?' There marketing campaign still focuses on trying to get people just to try it and break away from the norm of Coke. There is nothing quite like getting back from work or from being outside in the sun and having a cool glass of Dr P. So this summer if you already haven't, try Dr Pepper Zero!

Summary: A drink to rival the king or carbonated drinks; Coke.
