Owned by Coca-Cola, Dr Pepper looks, drinks and 'feels' the same as Coke, but flavoured differently. According to The Coca- Cola website the drink contains a blend of '23 fruit flavours' I can't distinguish any of them!!. Dr Pepper has a rich dark brown colour and the label is red with white writing, again similar to Coke. The usual info is on the bottle but again as with most fizzy soft drinks the ingredients are sketchy, just lists 'flavourings' without being specific about what the flavours actually are. It also contains caffeine and phosphoric acid (one to wake you up and one to burn your teeth!) The price is around the same as the other branded drinks available- £2 for 2lts and £3.35 for 6 cans (Tesco) it also comes in other various sizes.
This 'Sparkling fruit flavour soft drink' doesn't taste much like fruit to me, the best description for me is marzipan or almond essence. I used to like it but once I thought about the marzipan I put myself off. It's really fizzy and the taste is sharp and acidy, (which I like) and very sweet- abit too sweet, I can feel the residue on my teeth. To be honest I find this to be the sweetest fizzy drink out of the ones I buy.
The fizz is good and lasts for the duration of drinking it.
I won't usually choose it over other brands but when I do it wakes me up when I'm flagging, almost like an energy drink.
You're advised that the best way to drink it is ice cold which does improve it, there's nothing worse than drinking it warm because it tends to make it feel 'flat'.
For me it's not really worth the calories- 42 per 100ml, although there is diet but I've never tried it.
I've decided I don't really like it, but giving it 3 stars because it's still a quality drink.
Summary: This isn't my first choice but the rest of the family love it
