Advantages: good for exam revision, easy to make, relaxes and relieves stress

Disadvantages: cant make a brew in an exam or on the train, taste needs to be "aquired"

A lot of nonsense and rubbish has been written over the years about the hocus pocus powers of herbal teas and infusions.
I never believed any of it and as a skeptic was put off the whole idea.
Once in a while a friend would offer me a cup or sip of some foul tasting brew which would “do wonders” for me – like make me gag or feel nauseous.

A couple of months ago I had an epiphany while stressing out over some exam revision. Desperate to find a calming potion after too much coffee and studying I tried a cup of Tranquility from the Dr. Stuart’s Botanical Teas range – (available from larger supermarkets and health food shops like Holland & Barrett).

Strewth it didn’t half taste awful but I choked it down and went back to my books. About half an hour later I was feeling decidedly less stressed and thought I would try to choke down another cup.

The instructions on the box state “not more than 4 cups a day” eeek what on earth had I just drunk? Some hideous cocktail of narcotics? – no, merely hawthorn and lime flowers. That explains the “acquired taste” but seems harmless enough to I had another cup and to hell with it.

Over a period of a few days a sense of calm seemed to descend on my revision and I went into my exams not the usual stressed out bag of nerves but a calmer bag of nerves. I was able to answer the papers and put together cohesive arguments for this and that and will now just need to wait to see if the markers approved of my tranquil approach. No I wasn’t in some foggy brain state just what passes for “normal” in real life conditions.

The taste I have come to terms with, and although not really enjoy, can sip without really noticing.

I still need a lot of convincing about the powers of herbal tea and other alternative therapies per say, but am happy that this product really works for me.

If you think this stuff is good you should try the Dr Stuarts Valerian plus.. my ex-lodger and I used to call it "drop dead tea"- we were very rarely awake through stress!!! I can't think why after redundancies, building work, relationship breakups....

Sounds good if it works but not really one for hideous tasting distillations.
