Advantages: Relaxing, Caffeine Free, Natural Product
Disadvantages: Acquired Taste
I'm stressed, what a day! Firstly I came home at around 3.00p.m after having an Indian Head massage to relieve the stress to find my step son in the back yard when he should have been at school. Apparently he had his school shoes taken while he was doing PE, he tells me they cannot wear trainers so he had to come home. Upon phoning the school it transpires that he had left without their permission! Next I could hear the cat meowing frantically but I couldn't see him. I could hear him outside in between a gap and in our outhouse, where was he. At one point it sounded as if he was underground and the outhouse has a solid floor. I was starting to panic. The fire brigade wouldn't come out until the RSPCA told them too so I had to wait for the RSPCA to arrive. In the meantime the next-door neighbour and myself were pulling off some wooden panels to find the cat well and truly stuck about 3 Foot in the air behind a breezeblock! The poor little thing was desperately trying to push himself through to no avail. I literally had to drag him through a small gap and eventually he came free. The wonders that the massage had done were no more and I was in a pretty bad mood, Dr Stuarts Tranquillity to the rescue! I bought these a couple of months ago from Tesco to aid my new healthy regime. You may know that I am on the slimming world diet and you are only allowed a certain amount of milk per day, therefore if you want cereals you can't have it in tea and coffee or visa versa. My doctor also told me to try and meditate as the stress was causing me really bad headaches. The name Tranquillity was what caught my eye, there were plenty of fruit teas on the market but this was aimed specifically at relaxation. The box itself is quite simple in a dark green with the name Dr Stuart's across the top. Arched above this is states Botanical teas and underneath, only natural products. This all gives the feeling of som
ething simple, effective and healthy. The name Tranquillity stands out in capitals above all else but you can't help but notice also the words, naturally caffeine free. This is excellent news for people who react badly to caffeine or those who are simply trying to omit it from their diet. I had no idea what this would taste like even though you could see clearly that it was made from hawthorn and lime flowers. There's a picture of a couple of types of flowers and some red berries on the box, they look lovely, but how would they taste? At least with fruit teas you have a vague idea of what to expect, I decided it was worth a try. There are 20 enveloped bags in a box and they cost me £1.39, which I didn't think was bad value. They are more expensive than traditional fruit teas though. One thing I didn't understand on the box was, 'pharmacopoeial grade D.A.B 10' upon further examination this is a measure of purity measured by German Pharmaceutical standards. I'm assured by both the packaging and the website that as it's graded 10 this means excellent quality. Dr Stuart himself was one of the first highly qualified scientists in recent times to widely support and promote the beneficial values of the plant kingdom, he is described as 'the father of modern herbalism' Once home I was eager to try them. You have to turn the box on its side and open a panel to reveal 20 enveloped bags. There is quite a strong smell as the box is opened; it smells quite herbal and maybe a little bit menthol. It reminded me a little of aniseed/liquorish too. The smelled nice but do they taste nice? To make them you need to pour boiling water on to a tea bag or two if it's a large mug and wait at least five minutes for it to brew, Natural Botanical teas apparently take longer to infuse! You can also make iced tea by adding 6 bags to a cup and two cups of chilled mineral water; you can add
ice cubesand sweetener to taste. Both are as equally relaxing and taste ok. The tea bags are easy to open and the bag is attached to the envelope by a piece of string, this stays attached so that it's much easier to remove the teabag from your cup. Each envelope displays the name, ingredients and instructions so if they are left out individually people can see exactly what they're drinking! I'm not going to kid you; most herbal and fruit teas are an acquired taste. I'm sure there is a hint of liquorish/aniseed in the taste but only slight, of course that could just be me! If I remember rightly it tastes a little like Chinese tea, a hint of menthol but really quite bland. I think this makes it more palatable as some teas like peppermint are very strong and I just cannot stomach them. Of course others might compare it to dish water so I would advise you to buy it from Tesco and then if you don't like it you can take it back under their no quibble guarantee! lol I've been sipping one while writing this op and I do feel more relaxed, I'm not sure if it just the soothing experience of a warm drink or the tea itself. I do feel that each time I've had some of this tea that a feeling of calm comes over me and my mind isn't racing as much. I rarely drink it through the day unless I'm particularly stressed but I do like a cup at night before bed. It makes a nice change from ordinary tea and coffee and is much better for you. Tranquillity contains Lime Flowers, Hawthorne Berries,Yarrow, Scullcap and Fennel. There is nothing artificial in it whatsoever. Dr Stuart produces a range of herbal teas, fruit teas and green teas, all renowned for their quality. If you would like further information you can contact them on 01903740530 or visit their website at: www.onlynaturalproducts.co.uk They are available in most supermarkets and health food stores and are available in other countries outside
the UK like Canada, Japan and Spain, the website lists details of these outlets. I would urge you to give them a try but they may not be to your taste.
