Drambuie ... malt whisky, heather honey and a secret blend of herbs and spices. The flavor suggests saffron, honey, anise, nutmeg and an herbal earthiness. It is produced in the Isle of Skye, Scotland, and can be served straight-up, on ice, or used as an ingredient in a mixed drink, such as the Rusty Nail cocktail.

Drambuie is something that I wouldn't normally choose, maybe I've only ever bought half a dozen bottles in my life, but it's a wonderful drink, for a change, and for a party too. It's a strong drink, at 40% alcohol content. The bottle we had was the 70cl variety. Many people haven't heard of it, nor tried it, so I aimed to put that right one weekend when we had a few friends over. I didn't ask, but sneaked off to the kitchen, poured everyone a shot, and brought it in. Everyone was given a glass, and I said it's best just to drink the whole glass "down in one".
